Tricia Conahan is setting up the Wills Park Foundation's website and she needs your photos! Specifics are in the body of this message. Contact her with your images.
The Wills Park Equestrian Foundation, a charitable foundation, is partnered with the City of Atlanta to revitalize Wills Park. Led by Cheryl Sims, the Foundation has created a multi-year, $5 million plan to create new competition rings and warm up areas, and to upgrade to new barns for this facility. So many of us have shown at Wills Park over the years and know its value – for riders at all levels of the sport -- to our North Atlanta equestrian community.
Work on Wills Park has already begun. The fencing and lighting in the indoor ring has been upgraded, thanks to a generous grant from GHJA. The old maintenance shed has been demolished (yes!), to make way for the new competition ring. Step by step over the next few years, this initiative will transform Wills Park into a top notch equestrian facility.
I am honored to be a WPEF board member, and am helping WPEF build its public website. We are seeking photos that will show the depth and breadth of what Wills Park Equestrian Center offers to our horse sport industry and to the community at large. We’ll be using 10-12 photos prominently in the various sections of the website, then a few dozen more in the Gallery section.
Specifically, we are looking for the following pictures from Wills Park:
- A mix of juniors and adults dressage riders competing. We will need to show both the outdoor rings and the covered arena.
- Your “win” photographs…but not in front of a barn banner, please.
- Happy riders having fun at Wills Park.
- Any candid pictures of you with your horse, smiling, etc.
- Any photos that show families helping out with the horse, getting ready etc.
- Any shots of spectators, families watching, etc.
- Please note we are not including photos of trainers riding/competing. Amateur status only.
We are particularly short of photos showing diversity ☹…photos of male equestrians, riders from diverse backgrounds or riders with disabilities. These photos would be doubly welcomed.
Please note that as these pictures will be used on a pubic website, we need to be aware of permission rights. So if you have taken a picture with your iPhone, you own those rights and by sending me the picture you transfer that right for the Foundation to use the pictures on the Foundation’s website. If the photo was taken by a professional photographer, we will have to contact them to secure that right. (Note: most professional photographers are graciously allowing this permission, given that this is a charity.)
For the best resolution, please send your photos directly to me via text at 404-580-7883, including your name. I will drop them directly into the HIGHTAIL account at our advertising agency…and from there the selection process will begin!
Thanks, in advance, for sharing your memories and for supporting the Wills Park Equestrian Foundation!
