Fall 2019 Joint BC Water Funders and Water Leaders Workshop Dates

This 3-day workshop will be held in the Nicola Valley between October 15 & 18.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from Nicola Forum members and to visit several key sites and water bodies with Nlaka'pamux and Syilx knowledge keepers and water leaders. (Specific days and times to be confirmed).

The Collaborative's Annual Plan and Strategic Planning

 

The BC Water Funders Collaborative Steering Committee has approved the 2019-2020 Annual Plan. The Collaborative is also undertaking its first multi-year strategic planning process.

New Handbook for Water Champions

 

This new resource provides tools and practical solutions for watershed governance. It is intended for local groups, collaborative organizations and Indigenous and Crown Governments.

Water Governance in BC Crown Commitments to Reconciliation

Released by the First Nations Fisheries Council this statement provides direction to the BC government from the BC First Nations Water Governance Roundtable on implementing the UNDRIP, Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, and includes the Draft Principles that Guide the Province of BC’s Relationship with Indigenous Peoples (BCDP) in relation to the use, stewardship, and protection of all freshwaters

2019 Spring Water Funders Collaborative Workshop Report

 

This workshop focused individual and collective funding priorities. Participants also heard directly from the BC water leaders about their emerging networked approach and from the First Nations Fisheries Council about the emerging BC First Nations Water Network.

Elevating Community-Based Monitoring in Canada

 

Living Lakes Canada has recently completed a year-long initiative to promote Community-based freshwater monitoring and to identify steps the Federal government can take to show leadership and support for these efforts.
