"Everyone has got a thespian in them. The trick is to get them through the door and realise that this is a fun place".

Quote - Colin Cooper

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Colin Cooper, peacefully on 8th November.

Colin was a Life Member, theatre stalwart and committee member for many of his 40 years of association with the Te Puke Repertory Society.

He directed Aladdin, Ali Baba, Hercules, Stiff, Ladies Day along with one act plays - Darling You Were Wonderful and  Failed Investments, as well as a variety of club night plays. He was involved with taking the play 'Sordid Story' to the National Festival in Wellington, where it was placed second. Colin had his hand in most of the shows performed at the Litt Park Theatre over the years, with his skills in lighting and set building always in demand.

Colin was a humble and hard-working gentleman, mentoring and offering sage advice to many. He featured in a recent Seven Sharp television interview, championing the value of participation in local amateur theatre.

Colin was a respected and valued member of Te Puke Repertory and he will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lorna, daughters Paula and Helen and grandson Ashden.

There will be a celebration of Colin's life at the

Litt Park Theatre on Saturday 2nd December at 1pm,

followed by afternoon tea.

Farewell dear friend and know that, 'the shows will go on'.

Chairperson

What a fantastic season for Footrot Flats, the musical.

A huge round of applause goes to Michelle Cliff

and her team of dedicated cast, crew, committee and all supporters.

From fence battens to fresh scones, sheep's' wool to costumes, dance and music to lighting and art. It was superlative.

From the time the foyer artwork went on display, people were wanting to buy it. A decision was made that all proceeds from the artwork would go to Hato Hone St Johns.

A very worthwhile organisation to support and we are pleased to donate $200 from the sale of the artwork.

Ever heard of a Shakespearean Charcuterie?

Well, have we got a treat for you.

We were all impressed with the art work in Footrot Flats which was done by Owen Force.

Owen has done a myriad of theatre and art work and curated in art galleries in the US. Now he is going to direct an ensemble of the Baird's most interesting extracts from a variety of Shakespearean plays.

Fancy a little Romeo and Juliet washed down with a brew of MacBeth and followed by a side of Richard III. Don't forget to finish with a touch of

All's Well that Ends Well.

Whatever Owen has in store for us he will be calling for expressions of interest in February 2024, with the intention of performing the Shakespearean extracts mid-year.

If you would like more information, please contact

Owen owenforce@live.com or text 029 778 8080.
