Is It Safe to Buy Supplements on Amazon? 💊

Amazon has become, without a doubt, the most convenient one-stop place to shop - from school/office supplies, to clothes, to groceries, and even dietary supplements. But is it safe?

There are mounting concerns surrounding the quality of supplements purchased on Amazon.

According to this Fullscript blogpost,

"In 2021, an evaluation of 30 dietary supplements purchased on Amazon was carried out, and only 13 of the 30 were found to have accurate labels. Of the remaining 17 with inaccurate labels, 13 of them had ingredients listed on the label that weren’t found in the product itself. Nine of the 17 had ingredients detected in them that weren’t listed on the product label. None of the 30 products tested had third-party certification seals on their packaging."

Personally, I buy my supplements on Fullscript. And, as a practitioner, I use my Fullscript Dispensary to make supplement recommendations for my patients, tailored to their needs. Often, people will choose to purchase the supplements I recommend via Amazon instead if they can get them a little cheaper. I totally understand. I've done the same in the past. Just bear in mind that Amazon does not monitor the quality of products sold through third-party vendors, nor do we know how long these products have been sitting in a warehouse and how fresh they are - or, worse, whether they truly contain the ingredients they claim to contain. Fullscript tracks the quality of products they sell closely, so you can trust that what you purchased is, in fact, what you receive. Additionally, by buying on Fullscript, you're helping a small business owner (your practitioner) keep their business afloat and compensate them for their time and expertise. On a personal note...

I spent 10 days in Germany at the beginning of May. It was so wonderful to see family and a few dear old friends from high school!

One of my favorite parts of the trip was a long weekend in the mountains with my siblings, nieces, and nephews - and the newest member of the family, my grand nephew!
