02.04.2022

Hi everyone!

If we haven't already met, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Haven Beavers and I work at North Main Credit Union as their Marketing Coordinator in downtown Cornelia.

Last year I oversaw this group and as the year went by, I began to see the true potential it had! So for the past few months, myself and a few others have been cooking up something great for this group! The Habersham Young Professionals Group officially has their own Board! We currently have five members and a few spots open... If you think you could positively contribute to the board, please attend the 2022 KICKOFF event in a few weeks for more information. We are hoping to add five more in the next month or so.

Below you will see the four other board members and more information about the upcoming events plus a few more announcements!

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILTIES & TIME COMMITMENT

All board members must pay dues. Majority vote rules on all decisions of the Board. All board members are expected to attend all board meetings and events. Members cannot miss more than three meetings or events in a calendar year. If you miss more than three meetings without prior notice, you will be subject to removal from the board. Term length for each board member is a year. No member shall be appointed more than two additional times, serving a total of three years in the same position, but may serve in a different position.

Board meetings will typically be on the Monday before the first Thursday of each month at lunch in Cornelia, around 12 or 1 p.m. and last for one hour. The next board meeting will be on February 28th.

YPG members are welcome to attend any board meeting.

When brainstorming ways to make this group more beneficial to it's members, we decided to create a few incentives and a theme. As young professionals we often invest our time and effort into so many things, but not ourselves. This year we want to hold each other accountable and focus on improving ourselves professionally, physically, mentally, financially, etc.

We are asking that anyone who wants to participate as a member of this group, pays a one time yearly fee of $30!

This fee will pay for some of your meals and our events! You can pay at the next event or click the button below to have an invoice sent to you or your company.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT: Leadership development, expanding your network, community involvement, social connections, exchanging ideas, and engagement in our community's future. We are a group of people who are not okay with being stagnant. We crave growth. We believe we can do more and learn more. Both personally and professionally.

There will be one meeting/event per month for the rest of the year (we may skip the summer months). There will be a total of 4 luncheons/workshops with speakers and the remaining events will all be socials.

WHO CAN JOIN? This group isn't just for anyone. We are inviting our AMBITIOUS "younger" business members and entrepreneurs between the ages of 21 and 40(ish) to join us. If you are in this age group and you are looking to gain insight, encouragement, personal growth, leadership skills or visibility, then we invite you to join us!

REASONS TO JOIN: Grow your social capital. Develop your leadership skills. Learn from your peers. Build a better resume. Discover new jobs. Find a side gig. Volunteer your time. Stay inspired. Make new friends. Get motivated. Professional development. & have FUN!!

Since our membership fee is very low, we are still looking for SPONSORS to help cover the cost of our events.

Ask your business if they would like to sponsor an event for us!

The board is currently collecting a list of businesses who would like to offer our YPG members a discount to their products or services.

If your company would like to participate please email, habershamypg@gmail.com or click on the button below!
