Fitting Freya

Hello all you magnificent subscribers and welcome to my first newsletter of the year. 2022 started with a bang with my review of the Sagebrush Top on The Foldline website being featured in their newsletter, winning me a voucher to spend on their site. This totally made my day as I have a gazillion patterns I want to buy from them.

I’m all about the learning and so before I order that new pattern, I will continue my way through the Tilly and the Buttons book Stretch! as I learn to sew with knits. I have almost completed the Freya dress, a fitted knit dress with a mock neck, long sleeves and A-line skirt. As usual, I had plenty to write about for my fitting process.

For those who found their way to me via The Foldline, a warm welcome to you all. My newsletters summarise all blog posts released in the last month. If you'd like to see them as soon as they're posted, follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Bloglovin'.

Freya Dress fitting posts

My Freya Dress is almost complete but before I put together my MingMakesMistakes post, I have detailed my entire fitting process. This was quite involved and as you'll see, it highlighted another adjustment I may try on the next garment. Lots of photos and my thought processes shared.

Fitting Freya

During this fitting process, I needed quite a substantial rounded back adjustment but didn't want a shoulder dart or centre back seam. See my step-by-step tutorial on how I got around this, although it comes with a warning that it seemed to make sense to me but I can't be entirely sure it works!
