Building 2022 Happy new year to our members, funders, supporters and volunteers. As the year, pass by, there is a need to reflect and a need to ensure that issues such as diversity, anti-racism, global vaccine equality and climate change become a permanent part of the narrative for 2022 moving forward. In the early part of 2022, we need to make sure we continue to work on these narratives and encourage safe space for planning and collaboration, we needed to dig deep to develop our resilience to start building back from the pandemic. Particular lessons were learnt in 2021 and we had more opportunities to spend time on things that matter. People are at the heart of what we do, particularly those who suffer from marginalisation and inequality. S-REP continues to taken the mantle to work in partnership with other local organisations to redress some of the inequalities faced by are members as we start this new year. S-REP priority for 2022 will also continue to engage in creating dialogue, leveraging much needed diverse representation in leadership within many of Stockport's major organisations, and nurturing our Ethnic Diverse Communities to integrate and grow whilst allowing room for fluidity. S-REP encourages organisations and communities in our locality to be 'intentional’ with a commitment to developing relationships and opportunities to strengthen diversity. S-REP aims to be open, transparent and committed to the communities we serve by developing an inclusive agenda, for example, ensuring that Refugees and Asylum Seekers are part of the intrinsic plan for Stockport. Ensuring that inequalities in health and wellbeing are properly addressed so that no one feels left out. So that we finally achieve an inclusive community involves everyone taking responsibility to bring about positive change so that all of Stockport's residents can thrive. It's with great sadness we share the news of Yousef Dar passing, who worked tirelessly over many years against racism. It's a sad loss for our communities in Stockport and Manchester. May he rest in peace. -------------------------------------- From Cheadle Masjid
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we inform you that our dear brother Yousef Dar has departed this temporal abode and returned to Allah (Ta’ala). Brother Yousef was a man of principle who worked tirelessly for the Muslim community, indeed his departure is a great loss. We ask Allah (Ta’ala) to forgive our brother, to make the next stage of his journey easy for him, to expand his grave and to admit him into Jannat al-firdaws (heaven). Brother Yousef leaves behind a wife and two children. We ask Allah (Ta’ala) to grant his family sabr (patience) during this difficult time. Please remember Brother Yousef and his family in your duas (prayers) We will update you regarding the Janazah Salah (funeral prayers) in due course. |

We are so thrilled that once again our very own Aba Graham has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and are so thankful that her vital work in helping ethnically diverse communities continues to be recognised. |
