Jumpin' into July

In view of recent event in our First Nations communities, we feel it is crucial for us as a nation to put sincere and genuine effort into supporting the Truth and Reconciliation process.

We encourage you to read through the Calls to Action (listed below) as put forward by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

We Canadians also have positive accomplishments to reflect and take take pride in. Here are some of the areas we are reflecting on.

We highlight these in particular because they correlate to Marigold Collective's mission of empowering women through fair trade:

  • The Canada Labour Code which is an Act of the Parliament of Canada that defines the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers in federally regulated workplaces
  • Our stellar health care system available to every citizen
  • Our no-barrier education system, meaning everyone can attend elementary and high school without individual costs. Further, post secondary is made widely available, even to those who cannot afford the fees, through Canada Student Loans Programs.

The countries we partner with with are developing nations who do not always have access to, or the inherent right to health care, education and/or legal rights. We are fortunate in Canada to have access to all of these.

Meet our Volunteers

Meet Roxanne!  Roxanne and Paula met when they worked together at Ten Thousand Villages a number of years ago.  They were colleagues that became fast friends as well.  Roxanne has a long history in fair trade and social justice.  She is retired now and volunteers with us on Fridays.  She is an experienced retail manager and we are thrilled to have her.  Come in any Friday and say hello!
