Issue Number 4

Happy Mother's Day!

To all of the mothers out there, we at Shannon Court hope that you had a lovely Mother's day. We all know that you deserve it! Every day should be Mother's day.

We are now midway through March and we would like to share the below updates with you all.

Letters from a new friend

We have been receiving some lovely letters from an 8 year old boy who goes to Bolton School.

This young gentleman has been sending letters to his new friends in our Home and has been putting smiles on the faces of both our Residents and our staff.

While we cannot share the contents of the letters due to data protection, we can say that the letters ask how his new friends are and he goes on to introduce himself and his life.

Each letter is individually handwritten, with photos and clippings included. He also sent some flower seeds to us to celebrate National Plant a Flower Day!

We are enjoying these letters so much, that we are planning on sending him a thank you present for all of the smiles he has given us.

Maternity Leave returners

Two of our staff members have returned back from Maternity Leave. We would like to welcome Emma and Lauren back to work, they have been missed!

We have also had a few new staff members join our team, including a new senior in our Lantern Lounge (Charlotte), a new activity staff member (Steven) and a recently hired nurse (Rhiannon).

Our Team is ever growing and we are glad to have the above staff members join and re-join our Team!

Visitation

As mentioned on our Website, we are currently unable to offer physical visits to family members. We will be able to update everyone with further information on (or before) the 23rd of March.

However, we have been busy trying to work out the logistics in order to make visitations viable and, most importantly, safe. The safety of our Residents, as well as our staff's safety and your own, is our primary concern.

Here is what we do know at the moment:

  • Only one nominated individual can come into the Home for physical visits. This nominated individual cannot be swapped or changed at any time, so please start thinking about who you would like to nominate as the primary visitor.
  • Visits will most likely be taking place in your family member's bedroom. This is yet to be confirmed, but having explored all options, this seems to be the safest option available.
  • Our visitation timings will be expanded so that we have more slots available. These timings will be shared in advance of visitations starting.

We would like to ask for your input regarding visitation. If possible, please can you complete the very short survey below to find out your preferences of when we should restart physical visits again:
