WORCS LAKE HAVASU

DEC 5-6

The last round of WORCS offered a great turn out for spectators and racers. A long pit row of teams and support made for a great ending to the 2020 season. Cold weather and beautiful scenery was what everyone needed to close the year out on a high note. Purvines Racing did it with another championship.

Tyler Lynn was at it again two years in a row. Going into round 9 he just needed to qualify and finish the race, to earn the points necessary to win the Pro 2 Lites Championship. Thomas Dunn also finished a solid 5th place earning more seat time for 2021. Justin Seeds finished 1st in vet pro and unfortunately had a DNF in the pro race due to a knee injury that will not prevent him from racing next weekend. Sharon Mowell finished 4th women's pro and Caitlyn Kurtz finishing a respectable 2nd in the women's expert class.

We want to give each and everyone of our sponsors a huge thank you for their support of our team this year. Without you guys these two championships earned for Purvines Racing wouldn't be possible. From all of us on the team, thank you for the effort into our operation!

TYLER LYNN

2ND

PRO2 LITES

In Tyler's natural form, he wanted to win. He got off to a great start and lead most of the laps, but ended up finishing with a comfortable 2nd place to JP from PC Kawasaki. Though Tyler wanted to win the last race of the WORCS series, he played it smart knowing the end goal of why we are here racing.

In his words: "I got off to an almost dead last start but quickly made myself up to the top 3 within the first few corners.  I get really comfortable on the bike and was feeling the flow early on. I found some good lines and made some passes and got into the lead and put on a charge to make a gap. I was having a blast racing in the sand was ready to finish the season put strong. After a quick pit Jake Alvarez had made his way around me I couldn’t keep it wheel to wheel the I wanted to but I was able to come into the finish with a second place and the Pro 2 lights championship! Super excited to end the year out with a championship. I’ve been working super hard and it’s definitely paying off, and to end my 250 pro years out with a championship make it just that much better.  Honestly can’t thank the whole Purvines racing crew enough for everything they have done and excited for the future with them! Another huge thanks to everyone that put their time and effort into this championship it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed, THANK YOU!!"

JUSTIN SEEDS

1ST

VET PRO

Justin finished strong in the vet pro race saturday and showed good speed for the physically demanding course. Sunday he didn't get a great start in the pro race and had to work through the pack. He unfortunately suffered a weird mistake on the bike causing him to tweak his knee. Justin eventually pulled out of the race to ensure he could finish next weekends race in Lake Havasu for NGPC.

In his words: "Vet pro I had an okay race going battling with Robby bell. On the second lap I was able to get by him and lead the rest of the race and had a great time. Pro race my bike was a little slow to start and I was back on the start, but tried to move forward and not get taken out by a rock. After the pit I ended up twisting my knee and pulled out of the race to save myself for vet pro next weekend."

THOMAS DUNN

5TH

PRO2 LITES

Thomas finished out the year for WORCS with a 2nd in 250 A and 5th in pro2 lites. He has proven to us he has potential and we are excited for his growth over the next couple years with us. We are happy to add him to the list of talent on the team.

In his words: "Havasu was definitely gnarly. Got off to a decent start but made a mistake in the first turn and got passed by a few guys. Just rode a steady pace the whole race and tried to limit the mistakes. Ended up 5th looking forward to ngpc next weekend. Thanks to the whole Purvines team for all the help and support. Couldn’t do it without them."

CAITLYN KURTZ

2ND

WOMEN'S EXPERT

At it again finishing 2nd in women's expert and also 2nd in the Women's expert championship.  This year has been full of lessons and seat time for her which is all we expected. She has more than exceeded what we hoped for her in the WORCS series.

In her words: "Round 9 of WORCS at Havasu was a crazy weekend. Saturday’s race I had a great start but lost it coming out of the first corner and crashed. I road strong the rest of the race and finished second for Women’s expert. Sunday’s race went a whole lot smoother. Not a great start, but I kept a smooth pace and finished 11th in 250 B."

SHARON MOWELL

4TH

WOMEN'S PRO

Sharon finished 4th place women's pro and 3rd women pro in the championship. She battled some type of sickness all week which hindered her performance for the weekend. We are happy she is healthy after this round and look forward to her getting better before next weekends last round of NGPC.

In her words: "Being sick all week provided me to not have the strength and stamina for such a demanding course. But I did what I could do on what was probably the best havasu courses I’ve been on taking 4th place and wrapped up the Worcs Championship in 3rd place. It has definitely been a learned year for me with lots of ups and downs but at the end of the season I am happy and thankful with the outcomes."
