A note from Zack -

10+ years with these songs. 4+ years developing them with Moths in the Attic. 3+ years recording and mixing them at DLT Studios.

Over the years these songs have evolved from something like solitary elegies to something more akin to triumphal hymns through the support of loved ones and the collaboration of amazing musicians (learn more about the musicians here). As a part of the album launch we have a limited run of my debut solo EP (Dead Ends, 2009) available for the very first time. The first 100 physical sales of the album will include a copy of the EP as well. You’ll be able to hear this musical evolution as two of the songs from the EP have made their way to the MITA album.

The time has come and we are so very excited to share it with you. I thank you for your patience and for caring about our music. I hope it gives you something of value and inspires something within you as it has for us.

We hope you enjoy the journey of letting these moths fly free.

The album art reflects the inner journey within this collection of songs. Moths in the Attic were able to collaborate with some fantastic artists on this project. Jason Wagner of TimberFork Studio created all of the moth designs (including the ones on other MITA merch items) using mirrored ink blots. He also helped with the overall design. The photographs and images used in the album artwork were provided by fine art portrait and landscape photographer, Elizabeth Stephenson. More of her work will be featured in the digital lyric booklet made available on MITA's website.

Once final mixes were completed at DLT Studios, the album was passed to Third Man Mastering in Detroit, MI for the final touches. Mastering engineer, Bill Skibbe, has worked with industry greats and many influential artists for MITA including Jack White, The Kills,The Black Keys, Six Organs of Admittance, and more. Earlier this week MITA visited Third Man for the first time to meet with Bill and check out the mastering studio!

There will be a lot of great MITA merch options available during the release show! Chad and Jacob from Invictus Printing Co. did great work on MITA shirts and Live Sessions CD sleeves!

Music is a wonderful gift. For many it is therapy and medicine. It elates and excites, helps to grieve, helps to heal. The songs on this album are an exercise in that process. Though art and music can provide solace for mental and emotional problems, there are many who need much more. That is why MITA has chosen to give a portion of the proceeds from their debut album to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Donations will be made to local chapters in Northwest Ohio. MITA hopes anyone struggling to feel mentally well can reach out for a helping hand like NAMI.
