🌿 Newsletter 001 : May 24th 2019

It's been a while.

Since I last sent a newsletter life looks a little different. Last autumn we moved from CA to the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We endured a long and very snow-filled winter but spring is finally showing its face, and in the past 10 days our view has turned from sticks and mud to be blanketed in the most vibrant and lush green-of-greens nature could spoil us with!

Our move was prompted by almost a decade of dairy farming for other people and the deep desire to work for ourselves. We now find ourselves on 240 acres in Vermont's rugged Northern mountains hastily getting ready to welcome goats to what was previously a cow dairy.

What's all this got to do with knitting, you ask?

As I'm sure many of you know juggling multiple responsibilities and wearing many hats can require some serious time management practices. In delving into this new chapter of our lives I have been prompted to look at how I spend my precious hours/minute/seconds, and how to make best use of them.

While I may not be able to travel and teach as frequently in these coming years, and my designing time will be forged by harnessing precious moments of time amidst farm life, I want to more consciously share projects, news and updates with you in a way that supports my lifestyle (and love of knitting!) rather than taking away from it.

These newsletters will no doubt evolve over time, but I hope to maintain a more frequent presence in your inbox, while making heavy use of images and photos to share our goings-on.

So without further ado -

I slowly came back to earth this week having spent a weekend on a beautiful island, teaching an amazing group of talented women with my girl Andrea Mowry ✨

The class I taught at North Light Fibers Block island retreat showcased a new design featuring their worsted weight Atlantic yarn. Lots of cables and short rows tucked into this one! It will be out in a few weeks!

Vermont might be late to the party but it is finally greening up around here - dandelion carpets everywhere!

I picked up these gorgeous skeins of Spring Street while on Block Island - I have a special little project up my sleeve!

We have developed an even deeper love of tulips - the first intense colour after a long, white winter!

While I might be cutting back on the teaching, it's hard to say no to a trip to Wing and a Prayer Farm!

I'll be surrounded by talented teachers for the New England Fiber Art Summit 2019 in August! See my events page for more
