New Year, Same Goals for Community Development Happy New Year, Union County! While we look forward to what is to come in 2024, we can't help but reflect on 2023 and what an amazing year it has been at UCDA. Take a peak at some of the major strides we have made in community development for Union County, thanks to the help of our dedicated board members, staff, committees, community partners, investors and volunteers. In 2023, the UCDA... Was awarded the IEDA BOOST Grant. Was named a Thriving Communities Designation. Purchased 1301 W Jefferson property (we can't wait to share more on this project soon!) Planted 30 trees in the Uptown District. Hosted 13 professional development workshops at The Roundhouse.

Our Just Start: Introduction to Entrepreneurship workshop is coming back to The Roundhouse on Friday, January 19th, 2024 from 9:30 AM - 5 PM. It's not too late to sign up! Just Start: Introduction to Entrepreneurship is designed with aspiring entrepreneurs in mind. The only real prerequisites are: having a business idea that you're ready, willing and excited to share and work on, and a willingness to study, shape and fine-tune that idea in a supportive, collaborative and welcoming environment. Meet the new City of Creston Housing Director: Ethan Standard Last fall, with the support of community partners, the City of Creston hired a housing director to focus on all aspects of meeting the housing needs of Creston. Ethan Standard will serve as the liaison for the Housing Committee and City of Creston. Ethan brings experience, resources and knowledge to the community and will no doubt make a significant impact on Creston’s housing situation. Welcome, Ethan! |

The Iowa Finance Authority has funds available for eligible Iowa homeowners to help with these expenses through the Iowa Homeowner Assistance Fund Home Repair Pilot Program.
