NEWS FROM DR. REID

Dear St. Patrick Families,

A huge THANK YOU to the Cub Scouts Pack 9 for their hard work making the outside of St. Patrick beautiful. They jazzed up the area with various plants and mulch. We appreciate all their hard work.

Our third graders learned about the skeletal sysytem. They researched, created, and wrote all about the skeletal system.

Our Christmas Concert is happening the evening of Monday, December 12th at The Fine Arts Center at Charlotte Catholic High School for all grades. More information to follow.

Recently I sent out a survey from the Diocese regarding the permanent principal search for St. Patrick. The information you provide is sent directly to the Catholic Schools Office. The survey closes on November 1st. The survey is anonymous and confidential.

A new opportunity for Mrs. Laney and her family has come about and after six years of being St. Patrick's Librarian, she will be leaving us. Although we will miss her and her daughters, we are excited for them and wish them all the best. Please see below for a letter from her. We are in the process of finding a replacement.

A couple of reminders:

·         Mass uniforms every Friday.

·         Volunteers MUST be up to date on Protecting God’s Children (PGC) before being allowed to volunteer.

·         Holy Day of Obligation, no school on All Saints Day, Tuesday, November 1, 2022

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Festival on Sunday, 10/30 from 3pm – 6pm.

Blessings,

Dr. Alicia Reid

Please take a moment to look at our map and instructions for carpool. Carpool runs in this pattern both in the am and pm. Cars should not enter the parking lot from Buchanan or Waverly, enter through Pierce.

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below).  This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile.

Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home.  If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic.  Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Students are permitted to bring in store-bought (not homemade) treats to celebrate their birthdays with their class during lunch. Families have the option to purchase ice cream from the cafeteria for the birthday boy/girl and/or for the whole class to celebrate a birthday. Ice cream orders must be placed with Mrs. Loeber, the cafeteria manager, at least one week prior to the date to ensure enough ice cream is available for the class to participate. Mrs. Loeber can be reached via email at ejloeber@stpatrickschool.net.

2022-2023 SCHOOL CALENDAR

REPORTING PROCEDURES

Everyone has a role to play in protecting children. North Carolina law requires all adults to immediately report suspected child abuse by anyone to law enforcement agencies. If you know or suspect that a minor (person under 18) has been abused, please call 9-1-1 or contact local law enforcement.

Also, if you have information about possible sexual abuse or misconduct by any clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Charlotte, report concerns securely and anonymously 24/7 over the phone or online: 1-888-630-5929 or www.RedFlagReporting.com/RCDOC.
