Can students openly express their sexual orientation in school through speech and expression? |
Yes. You do have a Constitutional right to be out at school if you want to be. In Tinker v. Des Moines, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that students don’t “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech at the schoolhouse gate.” As long as you are being your true self and it is not physically hurting/harming anyone or causing significant disruption in the classroom, then you are well in your right to express yourself as you see fit. |

🙋🏽‍♀️ Civil Rights Pioneer Meet Charles Hamilton Houston |
Born in 1895, Charles Hamilton Houston devoted his career to using education and the law to fight racial discrimination. As dean of the University of Howard’s Law School, Charles educated over a quarter of the country’s black lawyers, including Thurgood Marshall. As special counsel to the NAACP, Charles worked tirelessly to fight Jim Crow laws. His biggest victories came in Missouri ex rel. Gaines v. Canada, where the right to education was guaranteed to Black students, and Shelly v. Kramer, which helped fight housing discrimination. Unfortunately, Charles passed in 1950 just four years before he could see his lifelong dream realized in Brown v. Board of Education. His impact on the case was still felt beyond the grave, as many of his former students were on Oliver Brown’s legal team. |

Savhera, which means "new beginnings" in Hindi, was founded by Dr. Vanessa Bouche who employs survivors of human trafficking, by giving them a meaningful career path to stir away from their past traumas. They provide customers with holistic wellness with extracts and oils, while also providing permanent employment for victims of sexual exploitation. |
Bouché did not want to provide unfulfilling jobs doing menial labor but instead wanted to help employees heal by helping improve the lives of others. Buying a Savhera product not only improves your own health and wellbeing but helps others move towards a brighter future. |
