From the Writer's Desk

For those following along in my blog or on Twitter, you're aware that my December Writathon was a bit of a bust. The morning of that first day went well enough, with hitting my expected word count and chapter targets. Unfortunately, the writing wasn't my best, with too much focus made on the one storyline, and not enough on world building and character development. It was only four chapters, but I could already feel like the book was going to flop. For now, The Darkness Within is on hold, but I'm scheduled to pick it up again in August.

However, with that book being shelved for the moment, that opened up the door for the book that I am currently writing. This was an idea that I had come up with a few months ago. It mostly amounted to a trans inclusive version of Harry Potter. This was, of course, largely due to the current issues with the Harry Potter series, and the cancelation of its novelist. However, as I'm already fifteen chapters into the first book, it's starting to take on a life of its own. I feel like it's coming off as a more realistic middle grade magic school series, with a more gradual approach to teaching magic to ten year olds.

The series is currently slated to run for sixteen books, with one or two books hitting my writing schedule each year. As this is my first attempt at a middle grade book, I'll be looking for some beta readers for the first book. If anyone is interested, feel free to reach out on my contact page.

From the Event Desk

The events for 2022 haven't been scheduled as of yet, largely due to the event mangers themselves not scheduling them. My current thoughts for the new year would be to go to Jersey Pride (scheduled for 6/5), as well as returning to IABX and Collingswood. More details will come when they are available.
