Winter is in full swing; the weather chilled and the days short—perfect for settling into a comfortable chair and gathering some stitching projects. We have a number of stitching opportunities available for you this winter, which cover the seasons—a little bit of snow and a whole lot of flowers! “Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern; it will come out a rose by and by. Life is like that – one stitch at a time taken patiently and the pattern will come out all right like the embroidery.” ~Oliver Wendell Holmes |

We had so much fun with the Woolen Oak Mystery Stitch-A-Long last summer that we twelve designers have again joined creative forces to bring you the Potted Petals Mystery Stitch-A-Long. Each week, beginning on January 11, we will be offering a free digital pattern of pretty potted posies. Each designer will also offer wool kits to purchase. Through the Needle's Eye is Week #4, with a Feb. 1 reveal. Our kit includes homespun background fabric, hand-dyed wool, and embellishments—lace, ribbon, beads, and more. Thread kits are also available, with various pearls, flosses, and wool threads. Preorders will be mailed on January 30, before the reveal, so you can be assured less of a wait to receive your kit. Click below for more info about this Stitch-A-Long and links for the designers' sites. | | |

And finally, you can join us on the Winter Wonderland Sew-A-Long, enjoying a flurry of snow inside and out! We have joined another group of 12 designers for this wintry project. It works much the same way, with free digital patterns offered on a weekly basis by each of the designers. These blocks will be released each Sunday, the first having been released last week. It's not too late to join this fun and get the first pattern download. Wool, thread, and embellishment kits will be available for purchase by each designer as well. Our week is #6, which will be revealed on February 7. Our kit includes cotton background, milled wool, and hand-dyed wool by Weeks DyeWorks. Our thread kit has a vast variety of threads: floss, Kreinik metallic braid, Valdani pearl, and Painters Threads hand-dyed pearl cotton; the embellishment kit includes the cute buttons above, which help to tell the story. For more information about this project, the designers involved, and their sites, click the button below. (Sorry—this sew-a-long does not have the option to preorder.) |

We hope you are inspired to expand your collection of embroidery stitches. Many of the stitches we used on our patterns for the Potted Petals Mystery and the Winter Wonderland Mystery will be part of our Hopeful Flowers Stitch Along, so you can learn them and then apply them! We do hope we will see you in one or all of these groups on Facebook. Check them all out on our website! Thank you for joining us! We love having the opportunity to stitch with you. Happy New Year and happy stitching, Teri and Kara |
