Stay Strong

Right now, we're all struggling for many different reasons. I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you, and I pray we all get through this very soon.

I have these quotes near my desk to help remind me that I can overcome my fears. I hope they help you too. <3

CampNano Project

I've chosen to revise my YA Fantasy during CampNano. It's actually my first time participating in CampNano. :)

Prepping

To prep for CampNano I made a book map in Excel, but it wasn't quite working for me because of having to use a screen magnifier.

I became confused because when I would click on a cell, the screen scrolled somewhere else in the spreadsheet. So I decided to do a bulletin board with cards, which ended up being too small, and the notes were too big. LOL :) I may still use the bulletin board for other things, or I may cut the cards in half to make them smaller. I haven't had time to decide or try anything just yet. The third way I made a book map was using the website Trello. If you haven't used it, you should definitely try it out. It is also an app you can use on your phone or tablet.

I use Trello for outlining, productivity with my goals and to-do lists, and now book mapping. The picture above shows some of my book map in Trello. I made banners on Canvan.com to help

make each section stand out, and I color-coded them. The sections I have mapped out are Plot Act 1, Plot Act 2A, Plot Act 2B, Plot Act 3, B Story Character, Antagonist, World/Magic System, and the MC's Arc. Under those sections, I have cards to show plot points/scenes or the arc of characters.

So far, it's working for me, and I've found it helpful to use the labels feature so I know what scenes I need to revise and what scenes I need to write still and add in.

Mind Set

Like many of you, my anxiety is high, and I can't concentrate for long. We're all stressed for different reasons. Many of us are working from home while our kids are home from school too. Others have lost their jobs, or some still have to work and risk getting sick. Thank you to everyone who is continuing to work to help us all. You are appreciated! Plus, many of us have loved ones who are in the high-risk group, and we fear for them. My heart and prayers go out to all of you.

A few days ago, our state governor ordered shelter in place. My husband's company is essential, so he still has to go to work and cannot work from home.

So I'm stressed and anxious for my own reasons. I'm in the high-risk group due to having asthma. In a sense, I feel as though I'm facing my mortality. Last week fear set in, and all I could think was, if I get COVID19, I may not survive, which means I won't see my kids grow up. :(

But over the last few days, I've turned to journaling, meditation, praying, reading, and chatting with others to help lower my anxiety. I'm doing a little better this week because I've found if I keep my mind busy throughout the day, it helps me reduce the anxiety a little bit. I've also limited my time on social media even more since it increases my anxiety. So hopefully, during April, I can continue and concentrate on revisions for CampNano.

Let me know how you're doing and how you're dealing with everything by connecting with me via email or Instagram. <3

Goals

I'm setting a low and attainable goal for CampNano because I'm not sure what April will bring and if I will have time to work on revisions. Plus, if my anxiety worsens, I may not be able to focus on anything.

March Bookshelf

In March, I read the To All the Boys I loved Before trilogy. I've watched both of the Netflix movies they have done for this trilogy so far and can't wait to see the third one.

HINT: One of the actors from the movies is in my dreams cast for Rhythm of the Stars. Can you guess who?

I also read When We Were Magic and Wired for Story. If you're a writer, I highly recommend Wired for Story. I plan to share some of what I've learned from it on Instagram, so make sure you're following me there.

To see my other reads, you can go to my Goodreads by clicking on the button below.

Until next time...

Keep reading...writing... and dreaming. :)
