As most of you are aware, a highly contagious upper respiratory infection in dogs has been occurring throughout the country. With symptoms similar to canine influenza/kennel cough, the cause of the illness has not yet been determined.
Precautions:
Respiratory diseases are spread through direct contact or through water droplets from sneezing and coughing.
High risk situations for your dog include boarding kennels, dog parks, shows and dog day care facilities.
Do NOT share dog bowls, toys, or chews between dogs.
If your dog has symptoms, keep them home and alert your vet before bringing your animal inside the practice.
Common signs of canine respiratory illness;
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Labored breathing
- Nose or eye discharge
- Lethargy
- Decreased appetite
