Making an Impact in 2022

RH Helping Hands concluded 2022 on a high note. The program had a 35% increase in distributed grants over the previous year, demonstrating significant need. Our Round Hill Country Club (RHCC) member community stepped up to support 38 grants totaling more than $100,000.

Completing its third full year in operation, the RH Helping Hands program has continued to support valued RHCC employees who are facing unexpected financial distress or who may be seeking educational opportunities. Approximately 15% of RHCC employees are utilizing the program each year as a confidential and efficient resource to assist when tough times arise.

2022 Grant Trends

Without a mass transit option, RHCC employees rely upon their cars to commute to the club, and RH Helping Hands has been able to assist with this ongoing challenge. Over 50% of the RH Helping Hands grants awarded in 2022 were related to automobile repair and replacement, as RHCC employees suffered the effects of inflation and supply-and-demand difficulties in the
car industry.

In addition, out-of-pocket medical/dental expenses, forced moves, and bereavement expenses were common grant categories in 2022, while
COVID-related hardships waned.

Read how our program, with your generous support, continued to make a difference last year in our full 2022 Annual Report.

Welcome New Board Members

Bill Dixey will serve as the organization’s new vice president and will add his experience leading human resources for major corporations, such as Honeywell, FMC Corporation, and The Clorox Company. His roles varied over the years, but his expertise centered around building strong business leaders, managing change, and creating business strategies. In addition, Bill served on the Round Hill Country Club (RHCC) Board from 2018 to 2021 (as president for two of those years), and on the RHCC grievance and membership committees. Bill has volunteered and been on the Boards for the Madera American Cancer Society, The Conference Board Global HR Network, and the Down Syndrome Connection. Bill is excited to add new strategic direction for RH Helping Hands as it begins its fourth year in operation.

After serving on the Grants Committee for the past year, Trevor Crossley has officially joined as a member of the
RH Helping Hands Board and will continue providing his insight and evaluation to new grant applications. Trevor’s long career at Madsen Kneppers and Associates (MKA) focused on work claims as project manager and coordinator, and he oversaw property loss work in the seven west coast offices. During his tenure at MKA, he helped
grow the company from 10 associates in three offices to more than 350 personnel in 25 offices. Trevor is an involved
RHCC golf member and often organizes the senior men’s golf outings. Trevor
will continue working with Kym Elam,
RH Helping Hands’ Grants Committee Chair, and Gordon Berke, Grants Committee member.

Other key members of the Board will continue their terms in 2023, including Melissa Mann, President, Shawn Young, CFO, Molly Ott, Secretary and Marketing/Communications, and Mike Davis, Strategic Planning. In addition, RH Helping Hands has several RHCC volunteers on its committees who contribute toward donor engagement, marketing, and financial operations.
