Coming soon – our first Global Members' Conference! |

FaithInvest is very excited about its first Global Members' Conference on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9, June. Entitled Pragmatic Faith-Consistent Investing and set across two half days, this is a working conference that is intended to be both action-oriented and information-rich. As our CEO and Founding President, Martin Palmer says: 'The faiths are increasingly realising they are major stakeholders in the planet – and this places a significant responsibility upon us as faiths to help shape a better future for people and planet.' |

FaithInvest exists to support the faiths in carrying out this responsibility through their investments. Our membership is open to faith-based asset owning institutions of all faith and sizes, and at all stages of the investment journey, and we support members through our one-on-one engagements, pragmatically-oriented working groups, projects and events. |

Developing a Dharma Index family |
One of the projects we are keen to develop is the Dow Jones Dharma Index. Originally conceived in 2008, the Dow Jones Dharma Index never fully came to market. However, with more than 1.1 billion Hindus, 500 million Buddhists, 26 million Sikhs and 4.2 million Jains globally, there is a significant population of investors who may be interested in an index that aligns more fully with their values. As Shaunaka Rishi Das, Director of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) and a FaithInvest trustee who was involved in the first initiative, points out: 'The idea of Dharma – of doing the right thing – is shared by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs.' Now the Dharma Index has found a new partnership between OCHS and FaithInvest. Our proposal is for a Dharma Index family to meet global market demand, with geographic and style coverage. |
Contribution: We are looking for support and engagement in two key areas: - Determine and document potential index demand from index fund sponsors and investors.
- Review the prior Dharma Index documentation and methodology to ensure that it remains an appropriate and broadly acceptable guide for index construction, constitution, and management.
Engagement: There are several ways you could become engaged with this programme: - Connector: Do you know of specific organisations or individuals who may be interested?
- Investor: Do you represent an organisation that could consider committing funds to an eventual Dharma Index, or a sponsor that an index provider could look to for initial funding?
