Autumn Sale!

Happy October everyone!  To celebrate the arrival of autumn, we're having a 25% off sale!  The sale will start on Saturday, October 6th and continue until Friday, October 12th.

This includes sewing machines in cabinets but not portable sewing machines or sergers.  So start your supply list and get your reusable shopping bags ready for this awesome sale!

Evening Sewing

Hey everyone!  Don't forget that we have extended our hours on Thursday evenings for Open Sewing, Knitting, and Crocheting, which begins this week 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Our front door will be locked during this time, just ring the doorbell and we'll let you in.

Design a Tote

Learn how to design and sew your own bag with Josefina this month!  Classes are offered on every Thursday in October from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Pumpkin Embroidery

Deb is teaching this super fun pumpkin Embroidery Class this Saturday, October 6th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  She will show you lots of beginner level stitches with this cute project!

Pop-Up Class

Dorothy will be here on Saturday, October 13th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. to teach a class on Needle Felted Pumpkins.  This is such an adorable autumn craft!

We've been receiving some amazing photos from you!  It's so much fun to see what everyone creates out of materials from SewGreen!

Erica bought a used, inexpensive dining room set.  The chair seats had holes and stains as you can see in the before picture.  She reupholstered them with pretty fabric from our store!  Fabulous job, Erica! 

Mads found a sewing machine cover pattern along with terrific fabric for the project at our shop!  What a great idea and project.

Upcoming Classes & Events

Make a Bag with Josefina

Want a simple way of building up your machine-sewing skills?  Join us for this class! We will provide the materials, and you will leave with a brand new tote bag! And don't forget to bring your new tote bag in on a Scrappy Saturday!  You can fill it with scraps and yarn ends for just $5, and who knows?  You might make another bag from the scraps!

Embroidery with Deb

Embrace the fading art of embroidery. From lazy daisy and feather stitches to French knots and blanket stitching, let's rediscover fine needlework together!

Learn Continental Knitting

Continental knitting is also known as, German knitting, European knitting, or picking.  You'll learn how to hold the yarn differently, eliminating the yarn over/throwing your hand and arm the way you do for English-style knitting.  Also, because of this you can reduce the strain on your hands and shoulders, and with a shorter distance between your needles and yarn, you can knit a lot faster!

Beautiful Hand Sewn Hems

This class will feature hand and machine techniques for the perfect finish for your new or ready-made garments.

Sewing Machine 101/201

Make friends with a sewing machine in our shop, or bring yours from home. We will take you through the basics of machine operation and safety, and guide you toward sewing a project.

In Sewing Machine 201, build on the skills you've gained in Sewing Machine 101. Is there a sewing project that interests you, or that you want to complete? How can your newly-gained sewing machine skills help you achieve that goal? This is the place and time to learn!
These classes are great for ages 10 & up (or younger with an adult present).
Prerequisite: Sewing Machine 101

Zippers Made Easy

Need closure?  Learn how to sew in zippers. Make them invisible or flaunt them!  Come learn how.

Serger 101/201

Sergers can be a little intimidating but they are great sewing tools once you understand how to use and adjust them to suit your project!  In the 101 class, learn the basics of threading and tension.  For Serger 201, you've learned the basics but want to go further!  Bring your serger, or sit down at the shop sergers.  If you bring your own, don't forget your serger's manual and all its feet, too!

Learn to Crochet

Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet?  Now's your chance!  Join us at the shop and learn the basics of crocheting, and more!

Working with Commercial Patterns

You've bought a sewing pattern, and opened the package. What's with all the tissue paper inside? We can teach you what to do with your pattern materials, and how to adjust it to fit you just right. 
Students may benefit from taking our Measure Up! class first.

Crochet Maple Leaf Coasters

These cute little crocheted coasters are a perfect quick craft for fall!  Make some for yourself or as a gift for someone.  You'll learn how to chain, slip stitch, single, double, and triple crochet!

Working with Dress Forms

Learn how padding a dress form can help you put together outfits and understand the fit of your clothing.
Professional measurements will be included.

Scholarships are always available for each of our classes!

Thank you for your generous donations!  We accept donation deliveries on Tuesdays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Fridays 11am to 2:00 p.m. and Saturdays 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Remember...

Every Saturday is Scrappy Saturday! Our small scrappy bags stuffed with scraps and rolls of fabric and/or unmarked balls of yarn are only $1 all day (regularly $3 on weekdays). Bring your own grocery-sized tote and stuff it full for only $5 (regularly $10). Stop by and fill a bag this Saturday, and every Saturday!
