Pressurevalve's 'Hooray for Monday!' Digest |

|
Welcome to: smiling, learning and hearing different perspectives, every Monday. This week features: - A llama that looks like Rod Stewart, (at least I think so)
- Living as David Bowie for a year
- Acts of kindness
- Using coaching questions to strengthen teams.
If you have any suggestions of content you'd like to see, drop me a line. (The key criterion is that it needs to have a positive angle, even if it relates to something that's not positive. The article below, on random acts of kindness is an example of this). For a smile: A llama that looks like Rod Stewart Let's start off with a silly animal photo, to ease you into the week gently. I met this character at a summer fete. Whilst he wasn't wearing tartan leggings, I thought he bore a strong resemblance to Rod Stewart (I didn't hear him sing, so who knows, maybe it was Rod). |

For different perspectives: Want to know what it's like to live as David Bowie for a year? Or, what it's like to write a ground-breaking comic? Then follow Professor Will Brooker on Twitter. I met him last week and really loved his creative approach to cultural studies. For example; rather than keep criticising mainstream comics for their representation of women, he decided to show them how it could be done differently (and better) by creating his own! Oh, and he lived like David Bowie for a year, to help with writing a book!

For others, for action: Acts of kindness For those of us living in the U.K., the last few weeks have seen a run of heart-breaking news stories. The thing that gives hope is reading about all the acts of kindness in response to the tragedies. From the bravery of emergency services and members of the public, through to donations of money, food, clothing and places to stay, it reminds us that there are so many kind, compassionate people out there. Let's not wait for awful things to happen to show our kindness and compassion, commit to an act of kindness today. It could be as simple as holding the door open for a stranger.
