What comes to mind when you think of Milwaukee? Old Laverne and Shirley re-runs? An abundance of breweries? The headquarters of a major motorcycle manufacturer? All of these things are indeed associated with Milwaukee, but you’re probably thinking of a different motorcycle company.
 
True, Milwaukee has long been the ancestral home of Harley Davidson and HD has been part of the city’s heritage since the early 1900s. But a company with an equally impressive pedigree stretching back just as far as HD can now also boast its Milwaukee connection. In 2016, Royal Enfield moved its North American headquarters to North Water Street overlooking the Milwaukee River, and it is from here that Royal Enfield serves the Canadian and U.S. markets.

Royal Enfield North America recently held a series of meetings for North American dealers to get caught up on the latest news not the least of which is the launch of Royal Enfield’s long-awaited 650 twin engine.
 
Ken and oVc tech, Frank, made the trip down to Milwaukee to learn more about this and other announcements during the week of November 6th. The big news, of course, is Royal Enfield's new 650cc twin engine, and this will hit shops early in the new year. Starting first as an option in the Continental GT and the new Himalayan adventure bike, a new street bike - the Interceptor - as pictured below will also soon be available.

And here is the original inspiration for the Interceptor; this mid 70s 750cc twin was just one of the historical models in the Royal Enfield HQ showroom.

Back in a corner of the lunch room, Ken found this highly customized Royal Enfield Continental GT Cafe Racer.

Powered by BMW's revered water-cooled, inline 3-cylinder powerplant, this rig is a well-mannered combo with enough zip to stay with any traffic. The sidecar is a clam-shell style that opens for easy entry and exit.
