THE BALANCE: WALKING IS GREAT, BUT IT WON’T BEAT A BAD DIET
So here’s the moral of the story – yes, steps are great. They keep you moving, they boost your energy, and they help with general well-being. But when it comes to weight management, steps alone won’t save you if you’re not mindful of what you’re eating.
I’m not saying don’t eat the cookie (I’d never say that – I’d be a hypocrite), but just keep in mind that every bite adds up. And instead of thinking, “I’ll just walk it off,” maybe ask yourself: Do I have time to walk 20 minutes for that bite of cookie? If the answer is no, it might be worth reconsidering. Or, at the very least, balancing it with a little extra movement.
KEEP MOVING, BUT STAY MINDFUL
At the end of the day, movement is important – it keeps your body and mind in shape, helps with energy levels, and it’s a key part of overall health. But when it comes to fat loss, what you eat matters more. Keep walking, keep tracking those steps (the 10,000 steps per day minimum rule seems to be a good foundation), but don’t fall into the trap of thinking steps can magically erase poor eating choices.
EXERCISE = HEALTH TOOL
DIET = WEIGHT CONTROL TOOL
So next time you’re eyeing that cookie (or whatever your treat of choice is), just remember – a little indulgence is okay but balance it with your goals and your movement. Steps are awesome, but they’re not a free pass to eat everything in sight.
On that note, I'm off for a 20' walk - now you know why 🍪
Passionately,
Max & Ben
