Meal Deals and Food Offers 

There's a Tourism Expo at One Galle Face from Thursday to Sunday with culinary competitions every day. On Thursday morning at 10am there's a live cooking demo; on Friday at 10am it's a Dress the Cake competition. On Saturday at 10am there's Cake Structure competition and also a Cocktail competition - and what better way to start the weekend!

On Saturday 19th you can enjoy some delicious French Crepes at Cafe Kumbuk as they are hosting a pop-up by Ceylan Creperie. It's on from 10,00am to 5.00pm offering traditional French crepes - with perhaps a Sri Lankan twist.

It's All-You-Can-Eat Japanese food on Sunday at Ace Pub in Nawala, courtesy of Naniyori Japanese Restaurant. It's a buffet available from 7.00pm to 11.00pm, priced at Rs4900 and is available every Sunday this month.

Bavarian Night is back at Water's Edge! Enjoy some German food, beer deals and live music on Thursdays from 4.00pm at the Bavarian Garden. Missing Oktoberfest already? Then this is for you!

And what goes best after a burger? No, not exercise! Ice cream of course. :) And Cafe Chocolattie have got you covered: a free ice cream with every burger! It's a limited time offer, valid from Monday to Thursday this month only.

Chilis have launched a two-course deal, a starter and an entree for Rs1995. The offer is available all day from Monday to Thursday.

Drinks Deals

We found a couple of new happy hours! The Loft Lounge Bar at the Colombo Court Hotel has a daily happy hour from 5.30pm to 7.30pm with 50% off selected shots and cocktails.

Junkyard by the Barn in Thalawatugoda are now offering beers and wines. And you know what goes well with beers and wines? Yep, Happy Hour! And happily, there is a daily happy hour from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. It's a buy one, get one free offer on beer towers, pitchers and glasses and on selected wines.

One for the ladies, there's 1+1 cocktails at Disques on Friday nights until midnight. Sorry guys, that's a ladies-only offer.

Live Music and DJs

This weekend is big for live music!

On Friday, "Wayo at the Lake" has Chitral, Jaya Sri, Umara and Sanuka with Wayo at Cinnamon Lakeside. "Inspo 22" has six performers with Midlane at Excel World. The Slipping Chairs will also be playing on Friday night, at Playtrix.

Saturday, metal fans will be gathering for Headbang Theory at Asiri Environmental Resort, with six of the top metal bands. At Pegasus Reef it's "November Thunder" with Jaya Sri, Falan & Lahiru performing with C-Plus. And at Havelock Sports Club, "Pink Fest" has Senaka, Chitral and Athma with Taxi.

If you've been missing Footprints on the Moon, they will be playing at The Joint on Friday and Re.pub,lk on Saturday.

The Chamber Music Society are putting on a Trumpet Recital at the Goethe Institut on Saturday. And there is a jazz evening with Four Play at Red Dwarf on Sunday,

For DJ parties, most of the big events are down South this weekend but on Friday "Big City Lights" has guest DJ TT from India at Kava Bar, with four more DJs and Nish on Sax and on Saturday Kava is hosting "The Illusion" with Iman Cader, Resh, Ace, Music Director and Shem on the decks.

Botanik, a much-loved venue in town, are closing for renovation after this weekend. They are holding "Closing Weekend" party on Friday and Saturday nights with six DJs and Binu on Sax, it should be quite a party and will leave us eagerly awaiting their reopening!

Next weekend - is going to be huge. On Friday, special mention for "Joලිය" with BNS, Sanka, Sankaja & Navodya with Gypsies and Ohme, in Viharamahadevi, a gig in support of Lady Ridgeway Hospital. On Saturday, "Colombro" has seven performers with Yaka Crew, and on Sunday Chitral and Umara will join The Marians at Nelum Pokuna.

Next Saturday 26 November, "Top Deck" cruise offers a DJ party on the water. Sugar Beach hosts "A Whole Lotta Juice" with six well known DJs. Back at Kava Bar, there's five DJs at "Secret Garden". Continuing in the morning, there's two all-dayers on Sunday 27 November. "Ruminate" at Revolution has eight DJs on from 11am to 11pm while "Trippy Sunday" debuts a new venue, The Deck, in Dehiwala with seven DJs from 11am to midnight.

Other Events

The Wildlife & Nature Protection Society (WNPS) monthly lecture this month is about "Living with the World's Largest Elephant Population" and will be at the BMICH Jasmine Hall on Thursday 17 November at 6.00pm.

For younger wildlife enthusiasts, the WNPS Youth Wing has an event to learn about Sri Lankan Butterflies; this is at the MJF Centre in Moratuwa on Sunday morning from 08.30 to 12.00.

Runners: if you prefer to run (or walk) with a group, the Colombo Night Run has its regular Thursday run departing at 7.15pm from Independence Square. It's for up to 5km but you choose your own pace and distance.

Shanjei is known for his Warrior Vinyasa Yoga classes (as well as his walking tours of Galle) but this Saturday he is hosting an "Introduction to Pranayama", breathwork, which will be at Prana Lounge from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

From body to mental health and Safa Counselling Centre are hosting a Mental Health Workshop discussing emotions, coping, work-life balance and growth,. This is at their office in Dehiwala on Saturday from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The Island Market is back this Saturday from 11.00am to 7.00pm at the Araliya Car Park, with lots of stalls offering products by local small businesses. And looking ahead to next weekend, Dolce Italia is hosting a Christmas Market, on Sunday 27th from 11.00am to 10.30pm.

Another heads-up for next weekend and the "Wild Wild West" Rodeo and Country Music festival at Ceylon Riding Club in Port City. Expect food stalls, cowboy fashion show, line dancing, a kids' zone and live country music. It on both Friday and Saturday next weekend from 3.00pm.
