Aitäh, Eesti Maja, and goodbye! |

Thanks to the email plea to return any tickets that will go unused, no one is on the waitlist any longer for tonight's the last chance to celebrate all that 958 Broadview Avenue in Toronto has meant while it has been the Toronto Estonian House. It will be quite the event! After the aktus, the formal part, Estonian Arts Centre, the charity associated with KESKUS, brings to the stage a lineup of the bands and performers who created the soundtrack that feeds our memories. Many of these bands are re-forming after decades! Read more here, eesti keeles siin. |

KESKUS construction update |
Deep foundation construction continues at the KESKUS site. With soldier piles and caissons completed, construction and testing of the micropiles has started and will continue for several weeks - watch video for Project Manager David Kalm's explanation to KESKUS Capital Campaign Ambassador Tõnu Kaljuste! The micropiles will be followed by foundation work on the heritage house. The local Annex Residents' Association is keeping an optimistic eye on the project too! Excavation and soil remediation over the TTC tunnels will then be next. This continues Phase I of construction as discussed at the community engagement session on March 24, 2022, watch it here, or read a summary here, eesti keeles siin. |

Exhausted - and totally worth it! |
"Nou Pois Äläud" women's weekend dance workshop at Jõekääru, Ontario was great fun, with over 60 women registered from across North America. With the patient and good-humoured instruction by seasoned instructors from Estonia, participants who ranged in age from 18-80, enjoyed the intensity of going from zero to performance in 36 hours. The outcome was: let's do this again! Read more here, eesti keeles siin. |

Deep foundation work returned to the KESKUS site now that the construction trades have settled their various strike negotiations. The order in which the micropiles, soldier piles and caissons are drilled require careful coordination to ensure that weight on the TTC tunnels running the width of the site, remains within limits and that the testing of the structurally critical micropiles keeps pace with the work undertaken. This is a continuation of Phase I of the 3 phases outlined at the most recent Community Engagement Session on March 24, 2022 - you can view it here, or read it here, eesti keeles siin. |
