MITA Studio Musicians

Ahead of the album release, Moths in the Attic would like to introduce the amazingly talented and musically diverse group of players that appear on the album. All of them did amazing work to bring this album to life. Read a little bit about each musician below and check out their websites and pages to support their projects!

Moths in the Attic began in the mind of Zack Fletcher. Sounds, melodies and ideas fluttering from darkened corners. The singer/songwriter/guitarist began writing songs that would become Moths in the Attic material around 2009. Since 2015, his primary musical focus has been to bring this vision to life by assembling and collaborating with the eclectic talent appearing on the MITA album. In live performances, he has led the MITA trio in many shows and festival performances across Ohio and beyond. October 25th marks a momentous occasion for the MITA bandleader as he finally shares his most ambitious musical effort to date.

Drummer/percussionist, Kevin Jorrey, is one of the core members of the Moths in the Attic trio. Like Zack, he is a Bowling Green, OH native and has performed live with the group regularly since its inception. Kevin is a tremendously skilled drummer who has worked on projects in many different genres. He took full drum duties on the MITA album, laying the rhythmic foundation for the layers of sound on many of the tracks. When he’s not performing with MITA, he provides his musical talents as a session drummer and performs live with various projects in the area.

Michael Williams is the final member of the live MITA trio. Michael is a saxophonist and pianist from Cincinnati, OH specializing in smooth jazz, gospel and R&B. He began collaborating with Zack on different projects around 2013. Michael always brings his natural saxophone tone and flair to live performances, and he offers the same on several of the album tracks. He spends his time away from MITA DJing, performing as a solo artist, and recording his own R&B/jazz solo material as well as with his collective Live Muzik.

Nick & Alina De La Torre are husband and wife, and longtime friends/musical collaborators of Zack Fletcher. They are the owners of DLT Studios where the album was recorded and mixed. At DLT Studios they work with clients to create all types of professional audio and visual content. They also travel the country speaking, performing music, and leading worship events. Both are multi-instrumentalists and provided their musical talents for the MITA album. Alina created string soundscapes with her violin on several of the album tracks, while Nick added his musical touch on the keys. Nick also took engineering and mixing duties, and together with Zack, oversaw the MITA album project.

Ed Croft was the first bassist to work with Moths in the Attic when the project began. He is an accomplished musician who has been a part of many groups (including the bluegrass act, Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers) and has performed alongside prominent jazz artists. Ed has been the recipient of many musical accolades in his hometown of Buffalo, NY, where he now works as a freelance bassist and performs with various ensembles. Before leaving the NW Ohio area, Ed provided his talents for the MITA record and is featured on three tracks playing double bass.

Aleks Tengesdal is a cellist from North Dakota who met Zack during his time at BGSU. The two began collaborating and developing string parts for the MITA album. Aleks’s unique musical approach and playing style soon became an important and influential sonic force behind the project. He now resides in Saint Paul, MN where he performs solo and in various ensembles with a focus on avant-garde and classical styles. He also maintains his experimental solo project with extreme metal influences, Weapons of Indignation.

Jeff Bouck was the live bassist for MITA in late 2017/early 2018 and is featured on electric bass on three of the album tracks. After graduating with his Master’s in jazz studies from BGSU, he moved back to his home state of New York to teach music. Under the moniker Heard and the Wonderfish, Jeff runs a music industry podcast called The Music Bowl where he talks to working musicians about their experiences in the industry (listen to an episode featuring Zack here). He also performs regularly with his neo-jazz ensemble, My Vegan Uncle.

Ariell Fletcher provides backup vocals on one of the album tracks and is the only other voice to appear on the album other than Zack’s. The two are siblings and have performed and sang together on many occasions since Zack started writing and playing live. Their voices complement each other in the way that only siblings can. Ariell currently lives in Los Angeles, CA where she works and has been involved in various arts-focused projects including singing, acting, modeling, and dancing.

Devonte Stovall is a bassist and cellist from Toledo, OH. He received a Bachelor’s degree in music from BGSU and has served as a bassist for hire for many area bands including MITA, Tree No Leaves and The Barn Cats. He currently performs regularly with his folk-rock fusion group Freight Street who are also gearing up for an upcoming album release. Devonte took double bass duties on the emotional peak and penultimate track of the album.

Moths in the Attic couldn't be more proud to have worked with all of these talented musicians and fantastic people. And they can't wait to share the result of all of their hard work in the next two weeks.
