What a beautiful morning it is, Family and Friends!
We come to you this month with much gratefulness and humility. In our devotions this morning we were meditating on the sovereignty of God and realizing more and more that He truly is in control of all things. All good gifts are from above, and even our trials and tribulations are allowed by Him to refine us, challenge us, strengthen us and hopefully draw us closer to Him. We read this morning in Genesis 1:26 that God said, “Let US create man in OUR image”. Father, Son and Holy Spirit; in “Their image”, He made us. So, what does that mean? At the beginning He said that all the things He created were “good”, including us. Then the fall to sin came, and He has been at work ever since trying to reconcile us back to Himself. And through our faith in the cross and death of Jesus, as the payment for our sin, we are bought back into relationship with our Holy God. He is in the process of redeeming His children to new creatures again. Our rebirth is what our walk here on earth is all about. He calls us, we believe, then we are chosen to walk with Him again. What a beautiful LORD He is; full of mercy, love and grace… So, what are we to do once He calls us back to Him?
We, being made “like” Him, should be trying to plant seeds into the souls of people that one day will hopefully be His again. In the jails Ken teaches about God’s yearning to set people free from their sin. The Bible says in 2Peter 3:9 that, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance”. In the rehabs, I counsel broken women to understand what Jesus had to go through on that cross to bring them back into fellowship with Him. And through faith in that act of love, they too can be raised again from the dead, delivered out of bondage, be reborn into new creatures and start anew! There is nothing here on earth that Ken and I would rather do than to watch the Lord raise His lost children back to new life in Christ. It’s been a precious month watching Him unveil the eyes of these lost souls as they begin to trust in Him…
We celebrated Ken’s 79th birthday at the Haven, an Alzheimer’s home here, where Ken goes twice a week to sing to them. I was so touched to see them singing, raising and waving their arms in the air to the melody, and crying, (along with me and Ken and our daughter Jessi), to the song, “In the Garden”. Jesus is with us all the time, if we will let Him be… We must share Jesus, walk like Jesus, and yes, sometimes suffer like Jesus. But we know that one day, perfection is coming!
Ken’s surgery went well and thanks for the cards and calls! The trip to DCI was postponed last month and rescheduled for next weekend, August 9-11. Please pray for many of God’s children to come back home to Him! Thank you all for being the hands and feet of Jesus for us! Your prayers and support mean more than you will EVER know! We need you and covet your friendships. He is a good, good Father! All to the praise of His glory! Much love to you and yours, Ken and Cindy
P.S. Please start praying for our annual Christmas Blessing fund. We are very low in funding. Thanks!
