BAR TALK
We're thrilled to be launching a series of talks by 'Very Interesting People' at The Royal Oak.
For our first BAR TALK, we are extremely excited to be welcoming renowned Scottish artist Charles Avery on Wednesday 6th October (arrival at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start) who will be in conversation with co-publican / artist / art-fan Amy.
Charles Avery grew up on the Isle of Mull in Scotland. For more than 15 years, he has worked on a single project - the invention of an imaginary island. His poetic, philosophical, witty art depicts the island's people, forests and creatures through paint, sculpture and text.
On the night, his latest work will be hanging throughout the pub.
"When sailors spoke of the fish that flew
You knew
Either they were not really fish
Or that they never truly flew"
(From 'The Islanders, An Introduction' by Charles Avery)
The plan:
6.30 pm ~ Kick-off (grab a drink)
7 pm ~ BAR TALK in the Barn Restaurant (find your table, cabaret-style)
8 pm ~ A relaxed, gently-themed set dinner begins
(Huge thanks to Ben Parsons and Lucy Meakin in from M+P Art in Delly End - a new, large scale Charles Avery work will be showing in their wonderful art space)
