We have a new edition to our family who joined us almost 3 weeks ago.

Meet Louie (above) who is a Catahoula X Great Dane/Mastif . I have always loved Great Danes (Its a Scoby thing) and got introduced to Catahoula a few years back which are Louisiana Leopard Dogs. We are grateful he is spending time with Bella, our sick dog, so hopefully he learns all her good traits.

ROCK ON!

I love Kinesiology Tape and Rock Tape is one of the best I have used. It has great strength and as long as your horse is clean it has great adhesion.

Kinesiology tape is not like the tapes that are ridgid and provide stability. Kinesiology tape stimulates the nervous and circulatory systems in order to help with the body to:

Re-engage with the muscles assisting in providing support without restrictions to the range of movement

Help to correct Biomechanical & Postural dysfunction - gets the mind to become more aware of certain muscles - proprioception

Can help in injury- reduction in swelling or bruising, enhances blood flow and awakens the body system

Rocktape is great as it can be used with other treatments or on its own, not just for the athlete horse but for all and  comes off without hurting your horse.

Breton Equine Services are happy to announce that we have it available to you through our shop and it is proudly used in our treatments.

GOING FOR GOLD

I have been watching the start of the equestrian at the Olympics this year and I know it sounds crazy but I look at those horses and their wonderful muscles and marvel at their abilities.  Sadly it takes lots of breeding just like the race industry to produce that one extraordinary horse. Just because your horse does not have the perfect conformation or is not as large and striding as a warmblood or is a short stocky gypsy cob does not mean you can not enjoy them in a variety of disciplines. It is all about working within their constraints. Certainly a 14hh gypsy cob will never jump a 1.6 meter fence but they could do a 0.2 metre and do it well.

Remember the only person you should be competing against is yourself and each day go out with the intention to improve on yesterday.
