Special Membership Meeting-A New Direction? The Board has called a special membership meeting for Tuesday, May 14, starting at 7pm. It will be held in the American Canyon Public Library Meeting Room. All members are encouraged to attend. The meeting notice and materials can be downloaded here. The purpose of the meeting is to reassess the Foundation's Mission, Vision and Values--are they still relevant and valid? From there, we need to hear from our members on the top priorities for the Foundation--how much should we focus on community support versus member services, or for public art, or arts and culture programs? Lastly, we need to develop a work plan to implement whatever direction we set. This may take more than one meeting, but we want to make sure all of our members have a chance to voice their interests. The easiest way is to attend the special meeting. But if you can't, send us an email with your thoughts. Email us at info@amcanart.org |

More Mosaic Workshops Announced We are scheduling more workshops for the community to join us! We're meeting at the Boys & Girls Club Building in American Canyon (60 Benton Way) on the following dates: Saturday, May 11, 1-4pm Saturday, June 8, 10am-4pm Saturday, July 20, 10am-4pm We are already making headway on the first of three panels. With your help, we can get the artwork completed sooner and reveal the finished product! Once installed, it will become an incredible work of public art--you will be able to point to it and say how you helped make the art! We are still raising funds for the materials and supplies--we just hit our $15,000 target, but we're not done yet! We received major contributions from the Arts Council Napa Valley, City of American Canyon, and the AC Community Parks Foundation, not to mention the Foundation itself! If you can't make these dates, contact us! We can offer "Tile Parties" for small groups up to 10-15 people. Send us an email at info@amcanart.org. For the latest updates, go to our website. |

Art Extravaganza Wrap Up! We had another exciting show this year, thanks to our member artists, volunteers and our Premier Sponsors: SpringHill Suites Resort and the American Canyon Tourism Improvement District. This year's Best of Show (shown above) was "#25" an oil by Janice Petersen. This piece also took first place in the Oils & Acrylics category. "People's Choice" went to Roberta Labaw for her "Love Puppy." For all the other winners, click here. We also want to thank all of our sponsors, including those businesses and individuals that donated items for our Silent Auction. As a result, we earned more from the Auction than last year. Overall, we plan to net about the same as in prior years--which means we can continue to offer student scholarships and grants to our public schools! For more information about this year's show, go to our website. |

Announcing our Second Pygmalion Art Contest Back in 2017, we introduced our Pygmalion Art Contest. The back story is this: thanks to Board Member, Gloria Fouts, we were able to purchase tubes of oil paint at a very competitive price. We were limited to only three colors, however, so we decided to create a special art contest for our members. Paint any theme you want, provided you can only use the three colors (or any combination thereof!). This year we're doing the same thing, with slightly different colors. We only have 30 sets of oils, so first come, first served! The price is only $20/entry, which includes the paint. Bring your finished work to the Welcome Center on Friday, August 2, at 5pm. The reception will start at 6pm, and we will announce the "People's Choice" at the end of the reception. For more info, download the flyer. |
