Hello and welcome - I hope the warm weather has found you! For me the year is galloping by and I've had less time to push on with works in the studio though things inevitably resurface... The panel piece above began in Provence in 2022... the hot yellow now muted by greys and blues... |

I am a founder-director of Outdoor Studios - a collective of artists practicing across disciplines. We deliver creative opportunities and experiential learning to a range of groups and communities, with a deep focus on environment and place. This series of town tree, mixed media drawings, Cusp, are in response to an OS colleague, Martin Brockman, whose solo exhibition, Free as the Fields is currently showing at the Blackshed Gallery. You can see these drawings in the East Kent Open Studios event in October this year. |

On July 6th, Walderchain Wood, a wonderful, outdoor learning hub not far from Canterbury, will be the venue for an immersive, nature-focused, one-day workshop. With help from host Mark Saich and myself, you'll produce simple inks from vegetables/fruits, chalk and charcoal, earth pigments, bark and galls, exploring different processes and tools. Weather permitting, we’ll forage for plant materials to use, and, make time to draw in the woods. The site is easily accessible and all materials are provided, including an amazing healthy lunch! The next Adult Education courses I'm running start on Thurs 26 November: Abstract Art (8 weeks - 10am-12pm) Image-Making through Print (6 weeks - 2-4pm). Based at Canterbury, both courses are explorative, open-ended and encourage personal expression. These images are all of student work. | | |
