IN THIS MONTH'S ISSUE: Youth Review Nominations Local Libraries Events Zahra's Fun Fact My Personal Gossip |

My heart is full. One of my youth reviewers submitted her feedback on Society of the Sentinelia. When I get a response like this, it makes all the early mornings, late nights, and weekends; all the revisions; all the rejections; all of the waiting worth every emotional rollercoaster moment. This review was sent to me by Cassie A. She lives in New England and loves to read. She and I connected virtually to talk about the book. Look for the video in next month's newsletter! |

Readers may think buying books is the best way to support their favorite authors. However, there's another great (and free) way to support them. Request their books at your local library. Libraries keep popular books in circulation, so don't just request it. Check it out and recommend it to your friends, too! Local libraries also support authors with special events and book clubs. Pig City Books in Lexington is hopping. I look forward to spending the day there on July 30. We'll be tasting teas that Zahra would like, taking selfies, and drawing for door prizes throughout the day. Pig City Books is located behind the courthouse in downtown Lexington. |

Sunflowers are native to North America. Sometimes, a sunflower will pop up in the Birkhead Wilderness—that's where Zahra lives. She wants you to observe a sunflower during different times of the day, because the flower tracks the sun. In the morning, it's facing east. At sunset, it's facing west! |

I've been stalking book stores. Everywhere I go, I try to visit a local independent book store. While there, I introduce the owners and/or book buyers to Society of the Sentinelia. I also take selfies and buy books. I'll be following up with a few independent book stores to schedule events. My TBR stack looms tall, but I'm making headway. Editing THE BLIND FAIRY (due this fall to my editor) and working as a marketing director may take up most of my waking hours, but when I get into my pajamas at the end of the day, it's great to escape to other places, lives, and circumstances through books. |
