| | Meet Rachel Bryn Du's current Artist in Residence, Rachel Clarke, has been very busy during the first half of her stay on campus! She has been working tirelessly on various artworks including but not limited to alternative process photography, large-scale ink drawings on vinyl, photo collages, and fabric works. We are so happy that she is finding Bryn Du and our community so inspirational! While Rachel leaves at the end of this month to return to Iowa, there's still time to meet her and see her work. Plan to come to the Bryn Du Art Center's Eddie Wolfe Gallery to see her exhibition from 12-2pm on March 19, 20, and 26 from 12-2pm. In addition, Rachel will be providing a drop-in public art-making watercolor activity at the Art Center on March 26 from 12-2pm. These events are free and open to the public. | | |

Pictured above is Violinist Isaac Stern with Sallie Jones Sexton and friends. A special to the newsletter by Executive Director Bruce Cramer This month we celebrate ART in a big way here at the Bryn Du Mansion. Many don't realize that the Arts have always been a big part of Bryn Du history going back to the Jones era. Actors Lillian Gish, Katherine Cornell and Mae West were guests. Other actors came and went as they performed at the “Playhouse on the Green” in Worthington, which was produced and funded by Sallie Jones Sexton. Jimmy Reynolds the artist, author and designer, visited often as well. Music was heard throughout the Mansion. Quite often it was from the Steinway in the living room played by Paderewski and, of course, Rachmaninoff. In later years, Isaac Stern (after whom the auditorium in Carnegie Hall is named) was a frequent guest. These days, of course, we have made a concerted effort to not slow down the art offerings. The Bryn Du Art Center welcomes children and adults with many different types and levels of art classes and special gallery presentations. The Granville Garden Club offers the creative presentation of the 75th annual Daffodil Show in the Mansion in April. In October of this year, we welcome back the Heart of Ohio Quilters Guild for their showing of, dare I say, truly works of art in fabric. In addition, lecturers on a wide variety of topics, poets, visual artists and lots of music on the back lawn of the Mansion have and will continue to fulfill our mission; to preserve and enhance the property while providing facilities for the cultural, recreational and educational benefit of the community and enhancing the vitality and quality of life in the Granville area. Truthfully, these are just some of the activities Bryn Du offers in terms of the arts, culture and various educational topics. We hope that you will find many offerings of interest for you to experience at the Bryn Du Mansion throughout the year. |
