hello january 22!

Elise here from the blog 'Thoughtfully Considered'

Thanks for being here!

Seems a little silly sending a newsletter on the 1st of January but thought it might be a great way to kick off the year.

My planner for 2022 arrived at the end of November and I have set my goals for January. If you are into details like me and love a good organised life I am testing out this yearly Planner by Steph Pase Planners this year. So far it has been great and I am looking forward to doing some of her challenges.

I am starting with the 'Get Motivated' one for January.

How have I been thoughtful this month...

I gathered up some fabrics I had lying around for all my Christmas present wrapping.

I bought a few second hand books for my daughter for presents and repurposed some other gifts for her.

How have you been 'thoughtful' this month?

I would love to know!

My ECO tip of the month

The Lazy persons guide to saving the world

My daughter's Childcare sent this guide out in their newsletter and I found some great ideas in it. Below are a few easy ones you can try!

Things you can do from your couch

Save electricity by plugging appliances into a power strip and turning them off completely when not in use, including your computer.

Things you can do from home

Eat less meat, poultry, and fish. More resources are used to provide meat than plants

Have a meat free Monday goal for 2022.

Things you can do in your neighbourhood

Use a refillable water bottle and coffee cup. Cut down on waste and maybe even save money at the coffee shop.

Things you could do at work

Inspiring

I cant remember when I first found this spoken word poem "People's Faces' by Kae Tempest but it seems more relevant today than ever.

It's where all of the agonising and soul-searching of the entire record culminates in this very simple expression of deep love for people's faces.

It’s hard, we got our heads down and our hackles up

Our backs against the wall, I can feel you aching

None of this was written in stone

There is nothing we’re forbidden to know

And I can feel things changing

Even when I’m weak and I’m breaking I’ll stand weeping at the train station ‘Cause I can see your faces

There is so much peace to be found in people’s faces

Kae Tempest is an English spoken word performer, poet, recording artist, novelist and playwright.

Podcast of the month

I have been a fan of Sarah Blondin since discovering her meditations on Insight Timer. A friend led me to her podcast which I have been working my way through and love it.

The Live Awake podcast helps bring you back to your grounded centre through reflection and guided meditation.

This podcast lends a new outlook to some of life's hard landscape. Perspective is everything, and by choosing to live awake to all that blooms in front of us we begin to live a more empowered life where joy becomes our natural state of being rather than something we occasionally stumble upon. Through living awake we become conscious participants in our life’s unfolding.

A particular episode I have been working on lately is this one, which is about looking at our angry tendencies and shifting into our softness. Helping to encourage peace and love in our lives.

Episode S02- Our warring self vs our infinite self (releasing anger)
