Northumberland Makers Newsletter

July 2019

Can you believe July is already upon us? With clubs and camps, Co-ops and projects, Northumberland Makers has made leaps and bounds since our last newsletter in January. Our camps have some spots left with many weeks sold out. Canada's first Microfactory Coop has landed in our MakerLab and it is shaping up to be a stellar addition. We've reconfigured the MakerLab again into zones dedicated to common Maker activities. We even have a robotic farmer called the "Farmbot"! Stop into Lab, we love to show it off!

Our Kids Camps are starting next week. Some spots are still open, so click the link above for more information and registration**.

**Funding available through "Camps of Hope".

PROGRAMS

The MakerLab continues to have many people interested in it. Last week, we toured the Honourable Bill Morneau, Federal Minister of Finance!

In the Fall of 2018 Northumberland Makers put on our first forum: The New Recycling Program with Dan Orr from Northumberland County. Our second program was a demonstration of the Cricut and how local small business owners can create professional signage using the tools in our MakerLab.

We are hard at work on two more programs: one for those who would like to know more about basic robotics and automation; and the second for an introduction to Welding.

Northumberland Makers is proud to be a part of, and to host, Canada's first Microfactory Coop. It is dedicated to: 1) scaling up member hardware startups, and 2) providing prototyping, design and custom manufacturing services to our clients. Hardware startups unite!

Love to sew and work with cloth? Come check out the Textiles Zone. Curious about 3D Printing? We have a 3D printing zone with 4 printers and more on the way.

Here's our newest addition to the MakerLab: the "Farmbot".

Thanks so much to Dr. Julian Northey and Frontier Agri-Science for their amazing donation!
