Quail University Course: Raising Quail in Aviaries!
I am recording videos fora course for Quail University on Raising Quail in Aviaries! This course will be available through Quail University later in 2024, as it will take a while to film, edit, and be reviewed before it goes live! Rigatoni Should be having Kits Soon! Rigatoni has been rebred, as she did not have babies last month, so she should be having kits towards the end of this month! I sure hope five fall-offs was enough! Wish her luck!
Grafting Fruit Trees and Rooting Sticks! I will be grafting a couple of fruit trees as well as rooting some sticks to become trees, so watch for videos on these. There's still time to attend some California Rare Fruit Growers Scion Exchanges! Click here for the video on that!
Baby Quail! The Jumbos are finally laying after their break--hopefully the storm won't make the stop again. I will also be putting light on the main quail aviary soon so we'll have more eggs out of that aviary at the end of the month. That being said, I'm ready to hatch more baby quail!
Looking for Fly-Fisher-people! Do you tie fishing flies? If so, I'd like to talk with you about using feathers and what people are looking for with regards to raw materials for their flies. Please email me if you are interested in trying out some feather methods.
Making the Ultimate No-Waste Chicken Feeder! I'm doing it, I'm putting this in the newsletter so it gets done! I have plans to make the Ultimate No-Waste Chicken Feeder in February (ok, yes, I know it was on the list for December--and January--now it's on the list for February) --this is the same design as the Ultimate No-Waste Quail Feeder with larger holes and slightly different placement. The ladies have figured out they can get the feed out of their current feeder with their feet, so hopefully this new one will prevent this behavior.
Learn! Hatch! Grow! Hatching Rental Program!
The incubators have been tested, and I will be working on finalizing paperwork, insurance, etc. necessary for the hatching rental program! I will be making a list of people for this program once it is ready. In all reality, the program itself will likely start in February. Retiring Parmesan! As my regular viewers know, Mr. Parmesan, my original buck, has been "shooting blanks". He's getting to be an old man, so I am looking for a retirement home for him. A lot of people process old bucks, however, I feel he gave me a lot of babies and deserves to live out his retirement, therefore, I am looking for a good retirement home for him--he will gladly trade loving pets for magic poop sure to make your garden grow even better than Jack's beans...did you know rabbit manure is a cold manure and you can use it directly on your plants? It's magic! If you are local to me and want to be Parmesan's loving caretaker, please email me and we'll see if you are a good fit for him.
