Wood Carvers May 28th was the last woodcarvers meeting for the season. We worked on carving a dolphin cut-out that Cindy brought in. And yes Cindy was actually caught carving in one of the meetings. Mike showed us a new instrument to hold a piece of wood steady while carving. It's called a Rockwell Jawhorse. He has carved some amazing pieces using this tool. The next woodcarvers meeting will be September 10th at 10am at AIH: 8801 Old Seward Hwy, Anchorage, AK 99515. Hope to see you all there. Enjoy summer and get to woodcarving! Bring in some pieces in September so we can all see the amazing things you have created. |

Scrollers Club Update Summer is finally here. Time to get out and enjoy this beautiful state. The scroll club is off for the summer. We will resume our normal meeting times on September 17th from 10-2. The location is yet to be determined. During the summer we will be working on cutting out frogs and butterflies for the State Fair. If you’d like to help contact Ray to pick up some wood and patterns. Last year we gave out about 75 puzzles to the children so we’d really like to get a head start. The plans for the State Fair are not finalized at this point. We’re hoping it will only be one week for the scrollers. As it gets closer we’ll try to get the word out as to what the schedule will be. If you’d like to help with the fair please contact Ray with your contact information so when the time comes you be notified. Enjoy your summer! Happy Scrolling! |
