Fellow Farmer Feature:

Rose Island Farm

Meet our neighbor, Rose Island Farm, led by Melissa Meyer and her family. Rose Island Farm is an Indigenous family-owned farm that prioritizes and centers people of culture and all their Indigenous relatives. Their farm is located in the territory of the Puyallup Indian Tribe and their coastal Salish relatives. They lovingly grow and care for herbs, foods, and create herbal supports for traditional care. Melissa is a community trained herbalist with a love to share wild and cultivated herbal supports. Melissa hosts community classes at the farm and provides safe space for Black and Indigenous community and families. The farm is named after the village that Melissa comes from in northern BC, Lax kw’alaams or “Island of Wild Roses.”

This week we are featuring Rose Island Farm's "Simmer Down the Stress" Tea which is made with hawthrone leaf, raspberry leaf, skullcap, lemongrass, hibiscus, and cloves.

Around the Farm

There's lots to do around the farm from building beds to weeding, weeding, and more weeding. If you're looking for something different to do on a Saturday, we welcome volunteers. Just email us to schedule a time on Saturdays to come by this summer.

The fennel is looking great, especially in the evening light. What's not looking great? The weeds! We've got some major weeding to do this weekend.

San Marzano tomatoes are coming in. It smells amazing in the greenhouse.

We're building out new beds to plant lots of salad greens. Want to help?

This is a special variety of heirloom thai basil with frilly leaves and green and purple colors. We can't wait to throw this into summer rolls.

Baby cucumbers on their way. We're growing three different variety, including one especially made for pickling.
