Had Matter has finally caught up with the 21st century. My materials are still vintage but the website has entered the modern age and you can now purchase directly online. Here's a sampling of the descriptions I'm adding for each piece.

Feeding the Deer

I was drawn to this postcard because of the look of the man feeding the deer. He looks slightly out of place, but not a caricature. I have very fond memories of feeding deer potato chips when I was a kid, not something you would do today. This is from the days of wood paneled station wagons and tents that are staked with rope. I was thinking of twig furniture when I chose tree branches to frame the mirror. The edging is a piece of from an old pretzel tin that you would have brought back to the store for refilling.

Heavy Load

I found this old newspaper photo without a caption and I've always wondered why a man in a suit would be hauling an alligator into an old car. I figured there was a good chance he was in Florida so I used an old Florida license plate for the edge and an old Florida map on the shelf. I love the fact he still has his hat on.

Got Milk?

My favorite license plates are the vintage ones that have all the old sayings like this one that says 'America's Dairyland'. With a saying like that I had to find the right picture of cows. I love this picture because it's one of those pictures that's hard to take on purpose. The cows are cut off at the knees and it is slightly crooked. I did not edit it, that's the way it was photographed.

Raven's New House

When I was making this collage,  I was imagining a home decor photo shoot for birdhouses in the early fifties. Mr. and Mrs. at home in their living room. I added the clouds in the doorway because their house would be up on a post. The clouds on the shelf and wood from an old shutter on the edge round out the theme.
