Hi Everyone! Long time no write. Here I am again with your (not so monthly) newsletter. As you can see, it has been a busy summer. After following Sabrina's idea to teach yoga in the park in June, The Shed has been a popular place! *While being socially distant. ;) 

 

This September feels like a fresh start for us as we welcome a few some new faces to The Shed. Both new students and new teachers! The Shed is growing. This growth spurt calls for some extra helping hands and hearts around. 

 

I am pleased to welcome Samantha and Nikki to our space. Most of you have already gotten to know Gen over the last two months as well. I am very fortunate to have friends and kindred spirits around me who have SO much to offer. Keep reading to find out more about these beautiful people and why I'm so excited to have them at The Shed.

OH HEY NIKKI JAE

 

Intro to Human Design workshop Sunday September 20th @ 1pm

 

This is Nikki! I am so glad this little Australian ray of sunshine landed in Montreal. I've spoken to you about Nikki before and I am thrilled that she will be giving her Introduction to Human Design workshop at The Shed this September 

 

I've had two private sessions with Nikki. Her knowledge and passion for human design is a gift. My Human Design reading felt like a giant green light to go out and be myself. My heart was beaming after our session.

 

Nikki explained my HD chart and dove deep into my design ("Generator"). She shed a light on my past and gave me the tools that align with my highest expression of self for future decisions.

We invite you to join us in-studio or via Zoom for a 90 minute workshop as we learn more about ourselves and the people around us through HD. We will explore the five HD types and you will have the opportunity to ask Nikki

questions about your personal chart.  

 

Here are the steps to follow:

 

1) Go to www.mybodygraph.com and download your Human Design chart for FREE. Then text me what type you are. (Okay..texting me your type is not really necessary but I'm so curious!) 

 

2) Sign up for Nikki's HD workshop by text (514) 965-3644. Let us know if you will be joining virtually or in-studio.

Depending on your energy type ( you can find yours out here) there is a special gift to be found in this period of self-isolation or quarantine. By leaning into the gift of the lesson this time is here to teach, you will invariably become more connected to yourself and learn how to take advantage of the energy type you have and contribute most meaningfully to the world, now and always.

 

 

FIT WITH SAMANTHA 

 

New class at The Shed!

Fit with Samantha Mondays at 7:30 am 

 

Samantha and I got to know each other during our semi-private yoga sessions with her and her father. The peace and the steadiness that these two exude make them a joy to be around. I've watched Samantha take over the Nun's Island  fitness community through her weekly Zoom classes, private clients, instagram tips and killer playlists to keep us all motivated.

 

Like many, Samantha started her fitness journey when she needed to prioritize balance and self-care. She turned to fitness as a way to release, and connect with her body. A few months turned into an exciting passion and that is when she decided that she wanted to share that with the world. She is a certified personal trainer and has given more than 350 group classes. Her main goal as a trainer is to make everyone she encounters feel accomplished, connected and happy (even on harder days). Fitness is more than just working out, it is a way to be one with your mind, body and soul. And let’s be real, who doesn’t like feeling strong and powerful!  

 

It's safe to say that Samantha is a wonderful addition to The Shed and I am beyond excited for her classes. Her passion, dedication and holistic fitness approach is inspiring. This woman is all heart and she fits right in.

 BREATHE

 

New 30 minute virtual class!

Breathe with Stef Wednesday 10:30am

 

I went for a run with Sergio this week and I won! I mean, it wasn't an actual race. But I must tell you that whenever we go for a run, I am most often panting heavily behind him. Keeping up but almost dying...

 

This week I did something different. I made an effort to breathe only through my nose the entire run. We did 6.5km in 34 minutes. I led the way this time, felt powerful and actually enjoyed the run! (He was very close behind. I didn't "win" by much.)

 

This run reminded of how powerful pranayama or breath work is. Learning various breathing techniques is so beneficial to our bodies and our brains.

 

This Wednesday, login and take a thirty minute breath work break. Not to "just breathe" but to practice specific breathing techniques such a kapalabhati breath, alternate nostril breathing, breath retention, etc.

 

I'll teach you the technique, we'll practice together and we finish with five minutes of meditation. Log off feeling clear headed and ready to take on the rest of your day.

 KEEP IN MIND

For your next visit to The Shed please take note:

 

If you are feeling sick, have travelled out of the country, or have been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 please avoid coming to the studio for 14 days. Even if you are feeling just a little under the weather, it's best to stay home. We understand last minute cancelations for health concerns. This goes for both teachers and students.

 

  • For both indoor and outdoor yoga please bring your own mats, props, towels and water. 
  • Please arrive maximum 5 min before your session and no earlier. 
  • Upon entering The Shed please disinfect your hands with the hand sanitizer provided at the door. 
  • Bathroom is available for emergency use only. 
  • For indoor/outdoor/virtual yoga, please book your spot well in advance as space is limited. (limited to 5 students in-studio)
  • For indoor yoga, please be mindful of last minute cancelations not related to health concerns. Every space counts. 
  • Be aware of symptoms of Covid-19: fever, cough, sore throat, respiratory difficulties, muscular pain, loss of taste/smell.
  • Studio floors, space saving mats, and frequently used surfaces will be disinfected by studio staff after every semi-private and private session.

I'm amazed at how long our virtual yoga crew has lasted. These yogis are definitely in it for the long run and I am so grateful for their support.

 

I must admit that Gen did add a layer of excitement to our virtual classes. So lucky to have her teaching all the way from Cali. If you haven't tried her class yet, do yourself a favour and text me for your zoom link.

The key word for thriving during these weird times is adaptability. We've had many curve balls thrown at us to say the least. As we find our path, it's nice to know that you have a safe space to land here at The Shed. 

 

If the class schedule doesn't quite fit your preferred yoga times ask for a private session! Or get a few friends/family members together and book a class for everyone!

 

This is exactly how our Wednesday 1pm class started. (Thanks to Riikka!) This class is now mostly full and we've just added an extra Friday and Monday class at the same time!
