Bryan Ferry forgets to look around him & notice

I love Nick Cave's 'Red Hand Files'; they always make me think.

Here's a goodie about a chance meeting he had with Bryan Ferry many moons ago. 'Tis a short but good read.

(Seems clear that Bryans perception box had narrowed!... see below...)

I Want To Wake Up To What's Around Me

The image above made me smile. Yes, there's a real truth to this! But let's not forget: we need each other. However we, ourselves, will always remain at the centre of being the most powerful leader in whatever changes we desire to make in our lives. Personal Accountability & Leaning into Support & Connection - these two are a powerful team. Perhaps we might call this Interdependence. It would probably change the world, and is likely our natural way of being as a species. How might more interdependence help you in your life? Would your future self thank you for it?

Our New Religion Isn't Enough

~ Freya India

This is a very thought provoking piece on therapy and the mental wellness industry. Drawing interesting parallels between it and religion; and somewhat uncomfortably shining a light on a somewhat self-obsessed worldview that can result. What is the answer, and what really is best for our individual and collective wellness?

From the article: "I’m not saying we should all be religious. But I do believe we all worship something. We all serve somebody. And the bitter irony is, the best way to protect your mental health is to be damn sure it isn’t yourself".

Therapy as a Religion

It's very easy to forget about small acts of courage when we see this word. How about the courage to speak with a stranger in the checkout line? Or just to smile? What about the courage to share a vulnerability with someone in your life; or set a small boundary when you ordinarily might not? Maybe the courage to be kind when you often respond with habitual annoyance? Look for the small ways where you can be brave... and you too will feel the expansion that Anais speaks of in the graphic above.

Perception Box

~ 5 minute watch

One for the "sorry for repeating myself" department... however, this really does bear repeating!

How are your polarised / black and white / positioned ways of thinking creating more suffering in your own life? How could widening your own perceptions about a person / situation / circumstance benefit you? What might a narrowing of your view prevent you from seeing / understanding?

Olive and Mabel - The Dog's Breakfast Grand Final

~ 90 second watch/listen

Good to listen to .. and watch!

Sports commentator Andrew Cotter recorded these in one of the lockdowns. Not one to waste his skills, he began commentating his dogs daily lives.

This will make you grin!
