"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face...You must do the thing you think you cannot do." - Eleanor Roosevelt Last month, while competing in a race, I came up to a vertical cargo net. It was the third to last obstacle of the race and the task included simply climbing from one side of the net, over the top, and down the other side. Easy peasy, right? Well, the thing is... I have a pretty big fear of heights, and in this moment, that fear consumed me. I felt paralyzed, straddled at the top of this contraption, with both hands, white-knuckled, gripping the netting. I felt like I was up there for hours, when it was probably just a minute or two. Then, along came a racer who climbed to the top, stopped, and sat alongside me. He must have seen the look of panic on my face because he started cheering me on with words of encouragement, "You got this!" and "Keep going!". His kindness broke through my fear, and I was able to swing my leg over the top, climb down, and, ultimately, finish my race. Fear is a tricky emotion. It can manipulate our feelings, control our actions, and completely stop our progression. Fear comes in all shapes and sizes and each person is valid in their own personal fears. Yet, if you view fear as a tool as opposed to a crutch, in the moments you are challenged the most, you can channel that fear into faith and action. The faith in yourself as you work through a difficult period in your life or an action that results in you moving towards a goal or dream you otherwise believed you could not achieve. Never, ever let your fears dictate your actions and hinder your growth. Have courage, friends. You got this! Keep going! XO Rebekah |

4 Classes | 16 hours of instruction | 72 class attendees | 75 lbs of royal icing | 245 lbs checked luggage full of supplies | 1,120 cookies baked | Endless Memories This past week I had the opportunity to teach amazing and talented cookie artists as an add-on instructor at CookieCon. We had an incredible experience! I enjoyed meeting each and every student as we decorated cookies, and I shared my experiences on how to teach decorating classes. Each class was unique, and I loved the discussions on growing and expanding our home businesses. Thank you for your love and support this past week. Your texts, emails, DM’s—and for those that were there, your BIG hugs of encouragement alleviated my fears and eliminated my doubts. Y’all are the very best. |
