Students of the Month

Danny Whelan & Sam Aurilio

Danny

Norwalk School of Music student for 1.3 years

Both drummers are members of the Norwalk High School Marching Band. Danny was awarded the highest honor of leading this nationally ranked drumline as it's Percussion Captain!

Sam

Norwalk School of Music student for 4 years

Sam won a snare drum spot in Norwalk's drumline as he enters his freshman year. Only the highest skilled drummers are given this position. Very few freshman in Norwalk High School's long history have ever earned a spot in the snare line

Balance Between Playing and Practicing.

Practicing - focusing on whatever skill you've begun learning in your lesson in order to become better at your instrument. I usually recommend 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Playing, simply means to play whatever you enjoy (jamming along with your favorite music, making up your own, etc). Playing should be the reward after practicing. Focused practice on a regular basis leads to much faster progress and ultimately a lot more fun playing.
