Autumn marks another trip around the sun, and for me, the past year was one of obligation. I spent many hours mentoring children on the art of adulting. Providing subtle guidance as they gained an appreciation for the balance between freedom and responsibility. I took multiple trips back East to escort my mother along her journey with aging. Grieving losses, celebrating new beginnings, and undertaking the content of future essays and books. The menagerie on the farm grounded me, and trips and celebrations with friends and family lit my way.
El Dia de los Muertos is a holiday tradition I've observed for decades by pausing to take a moment to consider life. I honor the past, find joy in the present, and consider what is yet to come. Join me!
