CDSRA received the Little Red Wagon Award from General Powell's Alliance in 2009 in recognition of our work with Rock Island Elementary. "Every child should have a little red wagon. All of you in one way or another were exposed to little red wagons when you were kids. And it brings back a memory of a wonderful childhood. That little red wagon that you used to put your bother or sister in and pull them around or push them around or thor throw them over. Everyone had pleasant memories of this little red wagon. The most important part is the black handle that comes up. It is that black handle that allows an adult to reach down, pull the wagon along, and make the way of life a little easier for a child who needs some help." -General Colin Powell, 1937 - 2021 Congratulations Sue Kane on the 2021 Patrick Hoban Mentorious Award! The Patrick T. Hoban Meritorious Award is presented to a member of WSSRA who performed beyond the norm to accomplish her assigned duties. Congratulations Sue, we are glad that you are our member. |

WSSRA & DRS Tuesday, November 9 (4:30 pm – 5:45 pm). This brand new event is designed for newly hired school employees. By early November this group will be approaching their non-revocable 90-day deadline to choose between Plan 2 or Plan 3. DRS will be on hand to explain the differences between both plans, and will provide information on state-sponsored deferred compensation. In addition, a financial planner will discuss the advantages of establishing a long-term savings plan and thinking about retirement security at the beginning of a K-12 career. Please share this with any newly hired employees! |

The Pangborn Project! What a great time CDSRA members had providing a 3-hour workshop for all the 3rd-grade students in the Eastmont School District. This was in celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the first Trans-Pacific flight by Clyde Pangborn who landed in East Wenatchee. Deb Lacy & Sue Kane headed up the project which included over 30 retirees and 420+ students. Students were able to learn about clouds, work with a wooden replica of Miss Veedol and make their own paper replica to fly. |
