Join us for our upcoming Science Café with speaker Kai Lepley, of UA's Biosphere 2. Kai Lepley is a doctoral student in the geography program at the University of Arizona studying pathways for resilient livelihoods in the face of climate change. His doctoral research focuses on understanding agrivoltaic systems and their use in dryland regions around the world. Agrivoltaic systems co-locate agriculture and photovoltaic energy production on one piece of earth. Kai approaches agrivoltaic systems as a food-energy-water nexus solution for supporting multifunctional land-use strategies. He uses low-cost, near-ground remote sensing, robust land-atmosphere sensor networks, and plant functional traits to answer questions about agrivoltaic system implementation at experimental field sites in dryland regions around the world. Listen to his cutting-edge research and participate in an agrivoltaic demonstration through our new Sky Island STEAM Express exhibit on the topic! Sunday December 5th 3:00 - 5:00 pm The Courtyard, 18 Brewery Ave, Bisbee |

Giving Tuesday is your chance to support free STEAM programming for your community! With help from generous sponsors like you, we have been able to bring educational programming to over 3,000 individual community members this year, and support a team of 5 paid high school interns! From Science Cafés for adults to Science Fridays and the mobile lab for kids, we're working hard to bring educational enrichment to every member of our community. This Giving Tuesday, please consider donating to our 501(c)(3), and help make Cochise County a more educated, equitable place. |
