April Newsletter: Habit Edition

Living alcohol-free is not necessarily LAFF (LAFforever)!

✅ LAF is approaching your relationship with alcohol in a new way
with a supported break

✅ It’s releasing alcohol’s grip, habit swapping, and having fun AF too!

❌ LAF is NOT white-knuckling or planning to celebrate with a drink on day 31.

♾️ LAFF is for me, I didn't set out for this result, it evolved from:

  • The benefits

  • The science

  • The movement

  • My renewed purpose

  • Plus I don't want a drink, it serves me no purpose
    -  so why would I have one?

Self-Care Tip

Take a look at what you are giving your energy to and what is taking away from this energy.

Questions to ask:

Is it depleting your energy?

Or is it giving you energy?

Is it serving you?

Then...

Make small steps to change it

Navigating Habit Change: A Quick Guide

  • Prepare Your Tools: Grab your favorite pen + a notebook

  • Do a braindump: Write down your thoughts, feelings, and desires. Identify what's off in your life and what you aspire to achieve.

  • Choose Your Focus: Select 1-3 habits to start with. Ones that you're eager
to work on or know would serve you well.

  • Explore Resources: Dive into resources that align with your chosen themes. Whether it's podcasts, books, or online courses seek out materials that resonate with you or you are a fan of.

  • Pair for Efficiency: Maximize your time by pairing your habits with complementary activities. For example, listen to a motivating podcast while taking a brisk walk, or incorporate mindfulness practices during your morning commute.

  • Stay Flexible: Be open to pivoting if a particular approach doesn't yield the desired results. However, avoid jumping ship too quickly. Give each method time to work its magic before making any drastic changes.

  • Create accountability

  • Keep it simple
