December Weekend Retreat Entering the Mystical Mandala: Centering oneself in the Sacred Circle at Siena Retreat Center Racine, WI |
Thursday to Sunday December 8-11, 2022 In this retreat participants will be offered an external experience that mirrors the internal journey of Centering Prayer. The process of creating simple mandalas will invite you to deepen your Centering Prayer practice. Absolutely no art-making experience or art-making talent is needed to participate in this retreat. In fact, those with little art-making skills might be positioned to benefit most. We will be concentrating on the "process" of creating, and how that process has been used in every culture and faith tradition to center oneself on the Holy, not the "product" of our creations. Participants will be guided through every step of the retreat experience. Come with an open mind and open heart expectant to see where the Spirit might take you in this educational and creative retreat. Mandala creating and conferences will be surrounded by the gift of silence as well as regularly scheduled group Centering Prayer sessions. Schedule: Retreat begins with evening meal at 5:30pm on Thursday and ends after 12 noon lunch on Sunday. Registration opens at 2:30 pm on Thursday December 8 in the lobby of the retreat center. Optional centering prayer session on Thursday at 4:45pm. Contact Ann Koerner at akoerner45@gmail.com 262-282-8622 or to Register click the button below |

The terrain of our inner life is constantly changing. Somedays our hearts feel like a placid body of water while at other times they may be rocky and cold like mountain peaks. And then there are those desert moments, and breathtaking sunsets. In this contemplative art session we will view a slideshow of landscapes and seascapes around the world and then create a piece of art reflective of our own inner sacred space at this time in our lives. An open studio approach will be used for the art-making, letting us choose which media best suits the response we are trying to create. Paper, markers, paint, clay, fibers are some of the materials that will be available. Please join us as we begin the Advent and holiday season by slowing down, taking time for yourself, and creating your own inner landscape. |

COSEW is Growing, Letting Go and Moving on… |

The closing ritual at the Center for Contemplative Living in Elm Grove began with the song “This is Holy Ground”, because we were standing on holy ground. It is here at our Center where we prayed together, sang songs together, were creative in art and contemplation classes, wrote icons, learned Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina, experienced community, and more. It was also significant that we are “letting go of the Center” during Autumn time. As a poem says: Can we let go as trees let go Their leaves, so casually, one by one, If I can come to know what they know That fall is the release time. Above all, we trust in the slow work of God. We may be impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new. We ended the ritual with praying in the form of Lectio Divina with Jerimiah 29:11-14: Yahweh says: For I know well the plans I have in mind for you… And singing “Everyday God”. Then we sorted through pressed leaves, and took some to carry home as a reminder that Fall is release time. And so we let go of our Center. |
